We’ve been waiting for the successor of ‘Ode To Bouncer’ for quite some time and it is finally here. Yes!
The people behind it, The Stereo Killers, are a virtual band that is composed of three animated cartoon characters, Cherry (Lead Singer), Goldie Foxx, and Dyna Mink. The real people behind the team are a Finnish, Danish and English combo and fantastic in making the electropop.
”Ode To Bouncer” became a huge hit originally in Denmark, and slowly surfaced in the European charts towards the end of the year. Now almost a year later after the release of their first single, the trio have the successor ready, ”Eros and Apollo” which refers to the Roman God of love and the Greek God of the sun.
Prepare yourself for a new uplifting dance track, very 9oies sounding heavily piano based track. What a cracker of a tune. Let’s hope the whole of Europe picks this up rather quickly and make it into a huge summer song.
Mexican singer/model Paulina Rubio is one of the countries most influential latino women in the world. Despite being a huge star in the Spanish speaking countries, her attempt in 2000 to break through globally with the English album ‘Borderline’ didn’t quite take off despite being huge effort and being the supporting act for Enrique Iglessias tour.
Never mind 2000 because the singer is giving it another go and is teaming up with producer Red One on ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ a summery eurobeat track.
The video for the track saw its premiere earlier this day and brings a rather naughty side of Paulina to the surface. Men locked up in doll houses, men used as paintball target and many more. I see I see. Not quite what we expected with the title ‘Boys Will be Boys’. The video for the track was shot in London and also produced by Red one.
The single which is currently available in Spain, is to be the lead single for either a new English album or a re-issue of the singers latest Spanish Album ‘Brava’. More news soon!
Today is a very very special day for one particular X Factor participant and her fans. The last week we’ve been bombarded with new singles by Aiden Grimshaw and Paije Richardson but this lady is the act we’ve all been waiting for ; It’s Misha B.
The singer, who just missed out on the X Factor final in the 2011 season, is releasing her very first EP later today called ”Why Hello World”. We knew already what a talented singer and act Misha B is, but based on the mixtape which surfaced on the Manchester-bred entertainer’s soundcloud page yesterday, this is going to be immense!
The mixtape is a combination of new Misha songs in a huge mash up with hits of the biggest R&B acts of all times such as TLC, Beyonce, Usher and Lil’Wayne. Misha raps and sings like she owns the songs. Her rendition of ‘Rolling in the deep’, as performed on the X Factor and originally by Adele, is another highlight proving what a class act this girl is! The new songs, which unfortunately at the moment haven’t been named, are masterpieces and set the bar high for a humble vocalist who’s unique in her kind and is without a doubt the one name to be remembered coming from the X Factor of all times.
The Misha B mix tape, can be downloaded for free here in return for your email address. Not to miss. Goooo Get it right now!!!
Monday is a big day for Welsh songstress Marina Diamandis. Her second album ‘Electra Heart’ is set to be released in the UK, with many more countries to follow in May. Many artists will agree that the second album is the most frightful to release, especially when the debut has been a huge success. It’s predecessor ‘The Family Jewels’ was certified gold in the UK and Ireland and released globally.
The singer teased work on the new album, back in november 2011 during a concert and revealed the album would very much be a concept telling the story of a cold, ruthless character who wasn’t vulnerable. Adding to that the singer said: ”It’s my take on female personality that include the Primadonna, Sue-Barbie-A, the Teen Idle and the Homewrecker. It’s a bit cringe, but I wanted it to be a way of personifying love and heartbreak. The whole campaign is pink and fluffy, it’s about love. I can never just make up a story, it has to be something that’s happened in my life”.
The album consists out of 12 songs all co-written by the singer herself. It has to be said that the writing skills of this lady are exceptional and her tone of voice is quite unusual for pop singers from the past few years. While there are some fantastic tracks on the album, there isn’t any consistency within the tracks, making it hard to be able to follow the story the singer wants to tell us. The opener ‘Bubblegum Bitch’ is a catchy rock pop song with funny lyrics (Sodapop pop here I come straight to number 1) sets a great tone for the rest of the album, but current single ‘Primadonna‘ who follows straight away, seems to be somehow misfitted. While the new single is a great tune, we believe there are other track which could have been a much better option as the lead for the new album. Take ‘Lies‘, the first ballad on the album which was produced by Diplo and has dubstep parts in it, or fan favourite ‘Homewrecker‘ which reminds us why we fell in love with Marina in the first place.
But not all is bad there are some true beauties on the album. Marina loves to experiment in music and that’s great. ”The State of Dreaming” is a great example. Introduced as an orchestral piece of music, the track transforms into a midtempo dancetrack, which is accompanied by violins. Her voice really stands out when she’s involved in bigger productions. The final song on the album ”Fear and Loathing” is worth a mention too. The intro suggests a hint to Madonna’s ”Like A Prayer” but takes a turnaround when Marina starts to sing, leading to a Enya-inspired ballad, which gets pumped up by a few electro-elements. Breathtaking.
There are a few tracks on the album, which you could describe as album fillers. although some of them lack that punch that’s needed to be put in the spotlight, especially those who succeed the big tracks like Homewrecker and The State of Dreaming. It’s a shame in that sense that promotional single ‘Radioactive’ was not included on the standard edition, as it would have been of a benefit for the album. For those who are waiting for the Deluxe edition, there the song will be included.
In all honesty, ”Electra Heart” is not a bad album and consists overall of a good amount of songs. The problem is however the tracklisting where we feel that some songs are taken away their beauty because they are overshadowed. So when you bought the album, add ‘Radioative‘ and start the shuffling.
”Electra Heart” the new album by Marina & The Diamonds is out now in Ireland via Itunes. The album will be available in the UK Monday April 30. A US release is schedule for July 2012.
The ‘Starships’ rapper/singer has officially launched the video for the first track of her album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’.
Despite the track being out for quite a few months, the singer teased earlier this week it’s release and mentioned it might be a bit too saucy for tv.
The video for the track, directed Anthony Mandler was shot in Hawaii last month, and sees the singer showing off her beach body on the shores of the island after being beamed down from a UFO. The singer is also seen in the video, being treated as a goddess. The end scenes give a very retro-feeling too, with the glow in the dark parts.
All in all well worth the wait, Nicki!
The singer also revealed on Twitter by replying to her fans, she’d be releasing videos for ‘Whip It’ and ‘Champion’, two tracks from her latest album: ”Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’. If she does, the singer will have released six videos including earlier ones made for the preview tracks ‘Stupid Hoe’ & ‘Beez In The Trap’ and singles ‘Starships’ and ‘Turn Me On’ ,which is her collaboration with David Guetta featuring on the deluxe edition of her album.
Australian singer Kylie Minogue is celebrating her 25 years in the music industry. After having embarked on several anti-tour dates in the UK and Australia, the singer has now revealed a video of her ‘Cherry Bomb’ performance recording during the opening night in Melbourne.
The video sees the singer, performing the song ”Cherry Bomb” in short jeans, boots and a printed, sleeveless shirt. The anti-tour is part of Kylie’s K25 project and consisted off demo’s and B-sides, taken from the singer’s repertoire and performed in initmate settings.
The singer is expected to release the Anti-Tour on dvd soon. Apart from the dvd the singer has already confirmed to be releasing a new cd later in the year, in which her most famous hits received a classic arrangement.
The singer was spotted in London’s Soho last week shooting a video, which has sparked rumours new material is on its way. Unless Miss Minogue was shooting for a famous car/motorbike label. We’ll keep you posted.
