The power of fans is never to be underestimated. Ask Sebastian and Tim Schou from Danish pop rock band A Friend in London. The guys, were asked by one of their big fans, Jodie, when they would make their way back to the UK to play a gig for their UK based Friends. And answer was, ” if you can organize it, and get 100 friends together for an intimate but brilliant acoustic gig” then the guys would be totally up for it.
So really, this is THE Ultimate chance for you to attend a gig of the band who represented Denmark at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in London on November 24. It’s a one off, and one you simply shouldn’t miss. Tickets are £ 20.00.

A Friend in London are set to release their album ‘Unite’ January 2013. Their current single ‘Get Rich in Vegas’ is out now;
With an intro similar to Noah and the Whale’s ‘Tonight’s the kind of Night’ you can’t go wrong by thinking the lovely peeps from Alphabeat are continuing to let us have the summer of our lives with yet another fantastic uptempo beach track entitled ‘Love Sea’.
And no it’s all there, it’s cheerful, positive and it just oozes that summery atmosphere. How will we ever overcome summers. I hope the peeps from Alphabeat realize we expect such tunes now every summer. #Justsayin’
‘Love Sea’ is taken from the Danish group’s third studio album, Express Non-stop which is out September 24, so pretty soon and very very very exciting! (Did we mention we’re excited?)
No sign yet of a video but we bet it’s going to be as super duper fantastic and uplifting as its predecessor ‘Vacation’.
Let’s face it, now that Scary Spice Mel B has decided to straighten her hair, we’re in desperate need of finding artists who have an amazing funky hairdo to brighten up our lives. Okay Okay there is Misha B, but there’s always room for more so we’re more than happy to have Danish singer songwriter Nabiha join our club of ‘Wicked awesome funky Afro hairdo owners’.
But that’s not the only reason why we love Nabiha so much. In fact ‘Never Played the Bass’, one of her huge Danish hit singles of last year, has finally been given the remix treatment by the Wideboys, followed by an official date for the UK release, which is RIGHT NOW! So better get your Itunes open and get your copy.
Let’s get this absolute summer tune right to numero Uno! As we posted the original remix quite some time back (you can find it here), underneath is the Wideboys remix with an even cooler mash up video of the original. Uplifting, summery, so let’s get this going!
Earlier in the week we featured the new single of the Greek Eurovision representative on our website. Yet Eleftheria is not the only of this years Eurovision class to release new material. Let’s have a look at the new singles of Soluna Samay, Tooji, Sinplus and Ivi Adamou.
Soluna Samay – Come Again (The Quetzal)
The 21 year old who represented Denmark at Eurovision has come up with a Latin-flavored uptempo summer track called ‘Come Again (The Quetzal)’. The chorus itself sounds like Samay has been inspired by the Maltese Eurovision entry of this year, while the verses sound very ‘Should’ve Known Better’. This folky, latin-influenced track suits her rather beautifully.
‘Come Again’ (The Quetzal) is out now via i-Tunes. Listen to it below
Tooji – If it Wasn’t For You
Tooji who represented Norway at Eurovision, might not have had the best of birthday’s, coming last in the final in Baku. Yet winning the national selection has given him the opportunity to kick start his career. With new single ‘If It Wasn’t For You’ Tooji takes a step back and goes for a beat heavy mid tempo ballad which not only sounds current, but showcases a new side of the former model/tv veejay.
Tooji’s ‘If It Wasn’t For You’ is available now on itunes. Listen to it below
Sinplus – Do You Wanna Dance
Brothers Ivan & Gabriel Broggini, represented Switzerland as Sinplus at this years Eurovision but failed to qualify for the grand final with their rock track ‘Unbreakable’. Though dissapointment was huge for the guys, they did get a record company out of their adventure and have since released their debut album ‘Disinformation’. The second single taken from that album, is ‘Do You Wanna Dance’ continues into their rock style.
‘Do You Wanna Dance’ is now available on itunes. Listen to it below
Ivi Adamou – Madness ft TU/ Avra (ft. Pink Noisy)
The Cypriot beauty managed to get Cyprus out of the semi after a few tough years, and continued to have one of the bigger successes internationally with her hit single ‘La La Love’. Adamou is currently the only artist who has two new singles out. The first one ‘Madness’ ft TU which is in English and the dance track ‘Avra’ ft Pink Noisy. It’s not yet known whether both singles will be launched internationally. Videos for both tracks are expected soon.
It’s been a top year for Danish band A Friend in London so far. Not only have they been supporting New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys on their tour, but they’ve also released their brand new single ‘Get Rich in Vegas’ which we reviewed a good month ago here.
AFIL fans will however be pleased to know that the band have now also released a video for their latest single. And it’s become a beautiful ode to their fans who’ve been attending and supporting them during their tours. The video sees the guys performing in several concert halls, chilling out in their AFIL tour bus, and playing basket ball. The Schou-lovers, will also be very pleased and won’t want to miss this video as lead singer Tim obviously has his top off in few of the stills.
So with no further ado, here’s the video for ‘Get Rich in Vegas’ which is out now!
Born in Copenhagen, Maria Apetri better known as Fallulah is a rising star coming from Nordic Europe. Since 2009, she’s been a favorite on the Danish radio with her solo ‘As I lay My head’, which was followed by ‘Bridges’,the most played Danish single on DR P3 in 2010 which also meant Fallulah won the prestigious “P3 Guld” award early 2011.
Since, Fallulah’s been scoring yet another major hit with the song Out Of It, which was played as the intro for the so called depression comedy “Lykke” on national Danish television, making it the number one download on Danish iTunes.
Her infectious combination of indie pop music, folklore and even Balkan inspired sounds is drawing comparisons with acts such as Florence + the Machine, Marina and The Diamonds and Bat For Lashes.
The track below ‘He’ll Break Up With You When the Summer Comes’ is one of the first surprises Fallulah wants to share, taken from her forth coming album, scheduled for release in 2013. The incredible singer is more than happy to offer the track for free in exchange for your email address, so download the track here
