Add 1 cup of Iceland and a sniff of Sweden; the result? Daniel Oliver’s ‘Dj Blow My Speakers’

Well in all honesty, apart from Of Monsters and Men and this years Icelandic Eurovision participants we haven’t really put a lot of Icelandic pop acts in the limelight. But that’s about to change, because this young man, Daniel Oliver, has caught our attention with what we call, a rather brilliant pop track ‘Dj Blow My Speakers’.

A big Fat pop Bass line? Check! Sexy voice? Check! Catchy? Check! perhaps a sexual reference? check! Pop? Check! We could go on for ages really. but we hope you get the picture and kinda get the idea that you have to hear it.

Daniel’s currently living in Sweden and working together with Jonas von der Burg, who’s previously worked with the likes of September and Alcazar, so no surprise it sounds sooo yummy! And are we glad it’s the first actual single to be released from Daniel in the world. So a big double cheer! We’re expecting big things (including Eurovision), Daniel!

Buy the new single of Icelandic indie folk band ‘Of Monsters and Men’

Starting off with a solo project, but ending up in a group of six individuals is a rather tough thing to do, and it rarely continues to last but Icelandic indie-folk band ‘Of Monsters and Men’ have only gone forward since they formed in 2009.

A year after forming, they were the winners of Músíktilraunir (English: Music Experiments), an annual music competition held in Reykjavík, Iceland in 2010, giving them the chance to perform at the 2010 Icelanic Airwaves Festival, which eventually landed them their record deal with Record Records at home after a radio station heard them perform ‘Little Talks’ live.

And since that moment, things have gone incredibly well. Not only has ‘Little Things’ been a massive chart success in Iceland, the track found its way internationally, giving the band the chance to sign a worldwide record deal with Universal in order to release their debut album ‘My Head is an Animal’ at the end of 2011.

Now 6 months later, it’s the UK’s turn to fall in love with the sweet, catchy indie folk songs by ‘Of Monsters and Men’. The single, Little Talks, is available for pre-order on Itunes now (click here) and will see its official release August 5. The full album ‘My Head is an Animal’ follows August 13.  Don’t miss out!

Björk’s biophilia remix chapter Vii has arrived.

As expected the televoters and juries agreed on the eventual winner, Sweden, while there was clear disagreement with its runner up Russia.
