Mandinga opt for ‘Papi Chulo’ as next single

Predicted as one of the potential winners at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, the band members of Mandinga had high hopes to take the crown home of this years contest. However a particular Swedish lady and some Russian grannies totally rocked it this year, leaving this funky trio to finish somewhere just outside the top ten. Yet, finishing third in thier semi final, clearly showed the members of Mandinga their summery latino songs sung in Romanian, Spanish and English were quite to the taste of Europe.

The Latin-influenced Balkan folklore band from Bucharest have therefore chosen a similar track to their ‘Zaleilah’ entry as their next single to conquer Europe: ‘Papi Chulo’ is full of saxophones, rhythm and uptempo beats and quite similar to its predecessor, when you listen to it closely.

The video for ‘Papi Chulo’ was shot in Baku, Azerbaijan and completes the story which was told during the ‘Zaleilah’ video. The band are currently touring Romania and Europe to promote their latest album ‘Club de Mandinga’. ‘Papi Chulo’ is also featured on the album.

The track can be downloaded via Itunes right now.

Want a taste of Alexandra Stan’s Lemonade?

Alexandra Stan scored a massive hit in the summer of 2011 with her addictive hit ‘Mr Saxobeat’, bombarding her to be the second biggest Romanian music export product, besides Inna. Even though its follow up single ‘Get Back ASAP ‘ failed to make the charts here in the UK, Alexandra is enjoying success globally and she’s hoping to reinforce that with the release of brand new track ‘Lemonade’. Sticking to what she’s good at, Alexandra comes up with yet another highly addictive pop track which flirts with some dub step and a rather mid tempo summer rythm. The clip continues to build upon the storyline which we’ve seen the past few weeks.

While the actual EP, with all its remixes, will only be available to download here in the UK from October 7, the cahill radio edit remix can already be downloaded.

ESC 2012: Full televoting split results announced.

It’s been three weeks since Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Many fans of the event are now in anticipation to find out the split votes between the juries and televoting, announced by the 42 participating broadcasters.

Eurovision.tv has today published the ranking after all 42 broadcasters voted in the final. As expected the televoters and juries agreed on the eventual winner, Sweden, while there was clear disagreement with its runner up Russia. Three of the big five countries Italy, France and Spain have all benefited from the juries as Italy and Spain both made it into the top ten, while France would have ended up with a nil point based on televoting only. A nil points hasn’t occurred occurred in the final since the introduction of the current system in 2004.
