Mention this particular track to any European citizen at the moment and you’ll probably end up getting a slap in the face. As early as March this year we predicted big things for Brazilian star Michel Teló. Having scored one of the biggest hits of the year world wide, the Brazilian heart throb is now heading to the UK with his reworked anthem ‘Ai Se Eu Te Pego’ (If I Get You) where he’s joined by female rapper Becky G, hoping to get us all crazy enough to sing along. It worked in the whole world so, surely the UK will follow, right? Well, we’ll see, as we found out there is a version available with Pitbull too, sung partial in Portuguese and English but we don’t recommend you search for it. (Big No No) Thank God we didn’t have that one as the radio edit. Anyhow.
Personally, we prefer the original, so this reworked version doesn’t really do it for us but it will be interesting to see whether the UK will follow in the footsteps of of Europe in embracing this catchy sing along summer tune. We let you decide what you make of this one, but do check out the original when you have the time.
‘Ai Se Eu Te Pego’ is out September 9.
