Darren Hayes, yes the man from Savage Garden, is back in the spotlights with his latest single ‘Bloodstained Heart’ from his latest album ‘Secret Codes and Battleships’.
While the man is hugely popular in his native Australia, the two previous cuts from the new album ‘Talk Talk Talk’ and ‘Black Out The Sun’ have been neglected for no reason by the UK radio stations (Shame on you all!!) and have made Hayes, one of the most underrated solo performers of 2011. We re
ally hope this is all changes in 2012 with the release of new single ‘Bloodstained Heart’.
Returning to his Savage Garden roots, with this heartfelt, the emotional pop-song tells the story of a friendship, ‘The song means so much to me because I wrote it about a time in my life when someone close to me was going through a horrible time and I wished more than anything that I could step in and take the bullet for them. We’ve all experienced that helpless feeling of standing by idly while someone you love is suffering – and wished that you could absorb the impact for them. It’s about those situations in life where, maybe you feel you are losing the battle, but you’ll never lose your dignity’’ Darren explains. And it is truly heartfelt as the song is absolutely breathtaking. Darren’s lyrics are so genuine and his voice really underlines the emotions experienced. While the song starts of gently, it slowly builds up towards a big moment where the track gets an anthem twist. It sounds something which Coldplay could have featured on their album and considering their style is considered as current, we really hope that this is finally the moment where we see Darren being reinstated as an inspriring, heart-fealt solo artist globally.
‘Bloodstained Heart’, the single and EP, will be available for download on iTunes on 27 February 2012. The album ‘Secret Codes and Battleship’ is already out and can be purchased.
