Germany: Lykke Li – I follow Rivers (Out now!)

Swedish songstress Lykke Li will be chuffed. Although her track ‘I follow Rivers’ has been out since 2008, it’s now nearly three four years later proving to be a massive hit at the continent. Belgium, the Netherlands and France have fallen for her mesmerizing indie-pop track last year, and now it’s Germany’s turn to welcome Lykke Li as their number one.

Italy: Gusttavo Lima – balada boa tche tche rere (Out Now!)

22 year old Brazilian pop singer Gusttavo Lima, has followed into the footsteps of country man Michel Teló and is currently conquering many European countries with his summer hit ‘Balada Boa (Tche Tche rere)’. Job done in Italy however, as the man’s steadily holding on to the number 1 position for six full weeks. The whole of Europe has fallen for Brazilian pop so be aware!

Canadian superstar Carly Rae Jepsen, proves to be a strong contender for the end of year charts. Her global debut ‘Call Me Maybe’ has taken its number 1 position back in France after being number 1 for a week in June. The total amount of weeks on number 1 in France comes down to three weeks. Well done Carly!

United Kingdom: Maroon 5 – Payphone ft Wiz Khalifa (Out Now)

Things looked rather grim at first for Maroon 5 latest single ‘Payphone’ when a released cover of their track made it nearly to the top. However good news for the American guys, who managed to take the number 1 last week. Whether they can hold on for another week will be difficult. the Calvin Harris Remix of Florence+ The Machine’s track ‘Spectrum’ seems to be having the number 1 in the bag. We’ll find out tomorrow.

Carly Rae Jepsen & Owl City’s join forces on new single ‘Good Time’

Owl City, the electronica project of Adam Young, is returning to the mainstream music world, in a joint attempt with ‘Call Me Maybe’ singing sensation Carly Rae Jepsen.

The duo have recorded the poppy dance track ‘Good Time’, which will feature on Owl City’s fourth studio album ‘The Midsummer Station’ scheduled for an August 14 launch in the States,  September, 17th, 2012 for the UK. The feel good track, which was unveiled last night on Young’s Soundcloud page, is the highly anticipated follow up for the producer’s quadruple-platinum 2010 hit single ‘Fireflies’.

Highly addictive and a big ‘feel good’ proportion are the main ingredients of this rather charming poppy summer song. The track is a god sent gift for Carly Rae Jepsen, as its the perfect follow up for her global smash hit ‘Call Me Maybe’, earlier this year. Could very well be a biggie for these two.

‘Good Time’ will be available on June 26.

A selection of UK Releases of this week

Carly Rae Jepsen is currently holding on to the UK number 1 for another week in the UK, but with a load of new tracks being out this week, will the Canadian superstar survive at the top for another week. We compiled a list of five songs which we think have potential to do very well in the coming months.

1. Conor Maynard – Can’t Say No

The UK’s latest heart throb finally sees the release of his very debut single ‘Can’t Say No’. We reviewed a little while ago. (see our archive) and we stick to our opinion that Conor Maynard’s track is very infectious and is without a doubt one of the tracks to keep an eye on this week. While many my describe him as the UK’s version to Justin Bieber, we actually see a younger Justin Timberlake in his music. Girls will love it, so will the boys so a number 1 is more than possible!

2. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Tapes & Money

Orlando Higginbottom, better known under his stage name Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, or TEED, is an English Electro producer and Dj who’s not exaclty known for his daytime airplay, but is a common name for the listeners of BBC Radio 1′s Annie Mack & Nick Grimshaw shows. But that might change with the producers new single ”Tapes & Money” which flirts with the electropop world. ”Tapes & Money” is the second single lifted from his debut album ”Trouble” which is out in June. Worth watching for the flamboyant outfit, which makes the producer even more interesting. One to watch for sure!

3. B.O.B – So Good

The American songwriter/rapper B.O.B continues to have an impact in the charts, since his success started back in 2010. Lifted as the second single of his new album ”Strange Clouds”, which is out in about two weeks, the rapper releases So Good. The rappers sticks to what he’s good at, a rap with punch and a memorable, catchy chorus. The video was shot in Paris, so be sure to check that out. Currently B.o.B has already found his way to the charts and after a day of sales is already at number 8. Keep’em going!

4. Simple Plan – Summer Paradise ft Sean Paul

Springtime, which also means it time to start looking ahead at the summer. With that thought in mind, Simple Plan are teaming up with American R&B/Reggae singer Sean Paul and releasing the very fresh, campfire-sounding ”Summer Paradise”. A Year wouldn’t be complete without a summer hit, so we really have high hopes for this beautiful gem by the French-Canadian band Simple Plan. Perhaps it might be a bit too early for a summer hit, but we do hope if they don’t achieve their goal in one go, they get to do a rerelease at some point in a few months.

5. Kimbra – Settle Down

Kimbra, is probably for the whole world apart from Australia and home country New Zealand known as ‘the girl who sang at Gotye’s world hit Somebody that I used to Know’. Determined not to carry that name any longer is her very first solo single ‘Settle Down’. Been a huge hit in her home country, and with a global recording contract now under her belt, this lady is one of the uprising stars for 2012. ”Settle Down” is reinvented pop music, with a cheeky and sensual twist to it. You’re gonna love this one!

6. Marina & The Diamonds – PrimaDonna

We mustn’t forget Welsh songstress Marina & The Diamonds who sees her ‘Primadonna’ being released as well this week. Talking about reinventing pop music, Marina has proven with her first album how she was more than capable of being a very interesting individual to join the industry. With her new single, she continues to impress and ‘Primadonna’ is once again an infectious midtempo pop song which shows what a great artist this lady is. A must-buy!

All these singles are scheduled for a release this week or have already been released via iTunes. Enjoy!

Carly Rae Jepsen lands number 1 in UK midweek charts

Yep yep, she’s done it. Carly Rae Jepsen, the Canadian singer who’s conquering the world with her single ‘Call Me Maybe’ is so heading to number 1 this Easterweekend in the UK.

The singer’s single ”Call Me Maybe” was released this Sunday, a few weeks ahead of its official launch and has since been doing really well. So well, that the singer’s debut was announced to be the number 1 of the midweek charts yesterday on BBC Radio 1. On Sunday we’ll know whether she’s effectively the number 1 in the UK.

The singer is currently enjoying the number 1 in Australia and is having massive chart success in several countries including United States and Ireland.

”Call Me Maybe” is a fantastic pop song and we were wondering what it would sound like in a dance version. And guess what? It gets even better. We found the following remix by Gabe Flaherty. While there is no word yet whether there will be dance remixes released, we absolutely love this one and think it could be huge in the clubs too! Enjoy!

The radio edit of ”Call Me Maybe” can now be purchased via iTunes.

Carly Rae Jepsen hits the UK!

Carly Rae Jepsen is continuing to set the charts on fire globally. The Canadian singer who started her career in the local version of X Factor, really started gaining fame globally after signing under School Boy Records, which is the same team behind fellow superstar Justin Bieber.

And since, the 26 year old has seen her single ”Call Me Maybe” charting all over the world including United States, Australia and her home country where the single was recently awarded double platinum.

And good news for the fans in the UK, because the singer is also releasing her single here; April 22nd is the date which the single is expected. And we have to say it’s a very solid, radio friendly pop song which tells the story about a girl being blown off her socks by this really hot guy, and while she usually doesn’t give out her number, she decides to make a drastic change and give him the option of calling her.  But will he? Ah that’s what the video is for… Definately check it out!

As we already said it’s a very radiofriendly pop track, and considering the fact that it has stormed the charts on the other side of the pond, and in many places in Europe, we also expect this to be huge in the UK. Think Jojo, think Mandy Moore and get ready to be hooked once you heard this song.

”Call Me Maybe” is expected to get its official UK release arround April 22.
