Shanell unveils track listing and release date for EP

Only a few weeks ago we mentioned how blown away we were by pop –soul recording artist Shanell after we’ve heard her dance track ‘Just The  Night’, leaving us predicting big things for the lady.

Well if you loved the track, you’ll be pleased to hear that the cover artwork for the EP ‘Nobody’s Bitch’ mix tape has now been unveiled, with its tracklisting and release date of Monday August 13.

16 tracks appear on the EP, with a collaboration featuring Busta Rhymes. Way to Go, Shanell! We are excited. How about you?

One To Watch: Shanell – Just For The Night

Singer songwriter Shanell has earned her steps into the music industry already by writing for hit machines Danity Kane, David Guetta, Ne-Yo, Beyonce, Melanie Fionna, Jennifer Hudson, Kelis, and Lil Wayne so no wonder this lady is destined for big things.

In fact her debut mix tape “Shut Up & Listen,” received over 1 million downloads, and current video “So Good” is a regular on the American music channels, followed by a staggering 5 millions views on Youtube/Vevo & Vimeo, not to mention the many interviews and coverage she’s featured in by the American press. About time we’d introduce this lovely lady to the rest of the world. And what a better way to do so with a first listen of brand new track ‘Just for the Night’, taken from her upcoming mix-EP “Nobody’s Bi@*h,” set to debut later this month.

‘Just For the Night’ is produced by Mad Decent/Diplo producer Derek DJA Allen. Shanell’s vocals are accompanied by a fluent dance beat featuring some hints of Skrillex dub step, making this R&B track top material and the perfect treat for global mainstream success.  Releasing ‘Just For The Night’ has instantly raised the bar for Shanell’s mixtape, and her upcoming album, set for a release towards the end of the year, already launches her as one of the most anticipated entertainers of 2012. Björk’s biophilia remix chapter Vii has arrived.

Björk’s collaboration with app developers, scientists, writers, inventors, musicians, and instrument makers continues. The unique multimedia exploration of the universe and its physical forces (music, nature & Technology) have arrived onto chapter Vii.

The new chapter sees a further two songs, Mutal Core and Hollow,  from the Biophilia album remixed.  The tracks, remixed by 16-Bit for the occassion,  are available on 12” vinyl as well as CD and digital download. Listen to them below; once again they are rather brilliant.

The Biophilia 10-track album, out now on One Little Indian/Nonesuch Records, is available digitally, in CD format and on vinyl. Additionally, each of the 10 songs also is available as a special feature of the Biophilia App for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

 

Justin Bieber’s new single confirmed.

Justin Bieber’s 3rd studio album has impressed friend and foe by the sounds of it, making it the most sold studio album of 2012 so far. The singer has now officially confirmed he’ll release ‘As Long As You Love Me’ ft Big Sean as the second single from ‘Believe’.

The track which was produced by Dark child and co-written by Justin Bieber and Rodney Jerkins is a fusion of R&B and dubstep featuring rap verses by Big Sean. The single was initially released as a promo-single 5 days ahead of the album launch, yet is set to be released as an actual single on July 9th.

As with ‘Boyfriend’ the track portrays a much mature Bieber, who’s clearly capable of following in the footsteps of Usher and Justin Timberlake. Read our full review on the album ‘Believe’ here.

Only a good week ago, Canadian superstar Nelly Furtado previewed the new track ‘Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)’ which should pave the return of the lady into the music industry.

The hip hop inspired track, which gets a dub step swing at the end, has now also seen the video release. Quite a funky video kicking off with Nelly gaining a lot of viewers in the streets as she’s walking around on stilts (Bigger the Better Of course). And bigger the better is a constant theme throughout the video with the superstar trying out big hair, big shades, big earrings,… you get the hint.

Do we like the song? In fact we do. On a first listen, while Furtado has a very unique voice, we couldn’t help but feel she’s gone a bit Nicki Minaj’ish in the song. And the video seems to be giving that impression too. Is it disturbing? God noFurtado’s been around the block for quite some time since the release of ‘I’m Like A Bird’ 12 years ago and has always come back with a reinvented style of music. Thumbs up girl!

Big Hoops was written by the famous Rodney Jenkins (Destiny’s Child, Jennifer Lopez) and is the lead track for new album ‘Spirit Indestructible’ which is out on June 19. A UK release for ‘Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)’ is expected on June 3rd via Itunes and available for pre-order.

 

Nelly Furtado – Big Hoops (Bigger the better)

Nelly Furtado fans will be happy to read their idol has unveiled the full version of her comeback single ‘Big Hoops (Bigger the better).

The track is the lead for Furtado’s 5th studio album ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ which will be launched on June 18th. That’s two weeks after the new single will be out.

‘Big Hoops (bigger the better)’ sees the Canadian superstar with Portugese roots experiment with hip hop. Her first single sounds very much something M.I.A could have recorded and included in her repertoire. Towards the end of the song, Furtado says, “I thought this song was over,” before it dips into a heavy dubstep drop. Nicely done Miss Furtado, welcome back!

”The Spirit Indestructible” will be the singer’s first new English album, since her Spanish album ‘Mi Plan’ in 2009.
