will the The Pet Shop Boys new single ‘winner’ be the track played to show the Olympic winners footage? Listen to it here

We’re being treated to a lot of Descending from the Godly Musician mountain Olympos the past few months. With the Elton vs Pnau project full on, George Michael’s return to the music industry (which we’ll feature soon) that other delicious 9oies electro pop phenomenon is back in town: The Pet Shop Boys.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, rose to fame in the early 8oies and have since built an amazing repertoire of electronic poppy dance tunes, with several number 1 hits and success in the eighties, nineties and nillies. To this date, the band have released ten albums, and many compilation and live albums.

Yet studio album number 11 is under its way, the album which is called ‘Elysium’ succeeds 2009 album Yes and will be released September 19. The first single taken from the new album is the chilled out, yet very strong anthemic sounding ‘Winners’.  ”you’re a winner I’m a winner, let’s enjoy it while it last” is part of the chorus, sung by Neil Tennant. The whole track in fact is about surviving showing determination and not ever giving up. Reason enough to believe, the track sounds as if its been written with the Olympic idea in mind. Don’t get us wrong, we think the Muse track is a brilliant one, yet we wonder when the footage of winners at the end of the Olympics will be shown in broadcaster, will be played with this new track by the Pet Shop Boys.

Hail to the great Gods of Music!  While its still a little while before the album drops, the single ‘Winner’ will be released digitally tomorrow, and a physical release is to follow on August 6.

Queen of Hearts Neon video

A few weeks ago we presented you the new single of the amazing Queen of Hearts. With the release of her new EP ‘Neon/Tears in the rain’  coming on May 15, the UK based queen has released the video for her new single to continue the reign of her Electro pop kingdom.

As it pleases a queen, Queen of Hearts looks absolutely stunning and stylish in the video, watching two dancers moving on the new electro pop hit ‘Neon’. There’s ruins, a throne, a bath tub and of course neon lights. Mesmerizing if we may say so.

Queen of Hearts caught critics eyes last year with her EP ‘The Arrival’ and has become a firm favorite to dominate the mainstream electro pop industry. The video for ‘Neon’ was directed by Man & Beast.

The new EP ‘Neon/Tears in the Rain’ will be released through indie label ATG Records and can already be pre-ordered via iTunes. Apart from the single ‘Neon’, ‘Tears in the Rain’ will also be featured on the EP, along a few more tracks.

Watch the video for ‘Neon’ here.

Marina & The Diamonds ”Primadonna” video released

It’s raining videos today. ”Primadonna”, the official lead single for Welsh songstress Marina and the Diamonds album ”Electra Heat” was revealed to the world yesterday.

Again, Marina doesn’t fail to dissapoint with this new electro-pop which switches from dancey verses to a slower chorus shows the versatility in the singer. In all honesty it takes a tad longer to totally fall in love with, as predecessor ‘Radioactive’ but the new Marina and the Diamonds is surely one of the few acts to keep an eye on this year.

The new album, ”Electroheart” which the singer has described as an album being mainly about female sexuality and feminism is currently available for preorder and will hit the shelves on 30 April 2012.

In the build up the singer is currently giving one of the songs, ”Homewrecker”,  away for free on her website, including teasers of songs on the album. Last week the singer also revealed the playlist and official artwork.

The single ”Primadonna” will be released via itunes & Spotify on April 16.

One to Watch: Labrinth – Last time

Timothy McKenzie, better known under his stage name Labrinth, is putting out all the stops to warm us up for his debut album ‘’Electronic Earth’’ which is to be released March 19.

The singer songwriter and record producer has been involved in several projects since 2010. He became known to the public through his collaboration with Tinie Tempah on ‘’Pass Out’’ and since he popped up regularly in the charts, scoring top ten hits. His previous and second attempt ‘Earthquake’, a Dub Step inspired R&B song, saw him reach the number 2 in the charts, and once again team up with guest Tinie Tempah making it one of our 2011 favourites.

And now Mr. Labrinth is back, with ‘Last Time’ which couldn’t be more different from ‘Earthquake’. During a first listen it sounds a lot more poppy than his previous work and reminds us a bit of Skepta’s ‘Hold On’, minus the rapping. It’s very electro-pop, undergoing influences by Taio Cruz, and even Goldfrapp. It’s not as instant as ‘Earthquake’ was but as a warm-up towards an album, which is considered to be one of the best for 2012, we can understand the choice as single.

‘Last Time’ is expected to have its release on 11th March. The album Electronic Earth follows one week later on 19th March. Click here to pre-order now! iTunes – http://bit.ly/yaE0vt

Ones to Watch: Minnie-Oh – You and I

Every so often, when looking across the boundaries of other nations, you find this one special pop star, which has all the potential to be globally the next best thing. And believe me this young lady has it all ahead of her:

Monica Johansen, better known as Minnie-Oh, could well be that new superstar. Reinvented electro pop is the trademark of this Norwegian beauty and her first new single for 2012 ‘You and I’ could be right there up with the big acts such as Robyn.

Minnie-Oh redefines the electro pop with a fresh reinventing style. She makes it sounds a lot more unique without going completely over the top, something Lady Gaga has been done since ‘Just Dance’. ‘You and I’ is a catchy earworm, without sounding too sugar candy poppy and Minnie’s voice is just so breath taking, it’s fragile and suits the beats so well, and therefore  giving ‘You and I’ that perfect twist.

Minnie-Oh, remember this lady’s name…

‘You and I’ is available to download from Itunes.
