Aleks Josh is the ‘Crooners Voice’ Find out more about ‘Cruisin’ here

17 year old Aleks Josh quite literally made four of the worlds biggest stars turn their chair around with his amazing renditions of crooner classics during the first edition of ‘The Voice’ in the UK. Even though stunned by his voice and the cheeky chappy winks, the young lad, with the big brown teddy bear eyes, was unfortunately denied to advance to the final (and told he needed some pepper in his buttocks more or less (seriously!!!) ), but as the first actual ‘The Voice’ candidate to release his own material, Aleks is already more of a winner, then the actual winner.

So, what to expect? Taken from his EP, which is out September 24 Aleks treats us to a style the UK knows him the most for, and the style he obviously loves the most: crooning.  ‘Cruisin’ is a soothy, laid back mid-tempo track which shows an incredible maturity of the 17 year old. So no pepper in the bum and we wouldn’t want it differently. Just because this track is laid back, mature and a tad serious it doesn’t mean Aleks is no fun. In fact he’s more than fun, as the video will show you.

The untitled ‘EP’ of Aleks Josh can be downloaded September 24. We’ll keep you posted on more info.

PowerPop Rock’n Roll like you’ve never experienced before: Magic Eight Ball

The summer in good ol’jolly England seems light years away, yet our mood quickly got brightened up when Baz Francis, lead man of powerpop group Magic Eight Ball informed us the group are re-releasing their debut EP ‘A Peacock’s Tale’ alongside the single ‘Stripped’.

The group which has been gigging and recording as a group since 2006 possess a natural ability to come up with a set of brilliant pop tracks which are not only summery but also come across as celebration the wonderful genre of surf music. It’s especially the case for the re-mastered track ‘Baby Is It So’ and ‘Sunday Mornings’ which can be found on the group’s ‘Mother Nature’s Candy’. No wonder our faces lightened up straight away.

Since 2006, the band have gone on to wow crowds by appearing in several clubs and supporting present and former members of Enuff ‘ZNuff from Chicago twice on two national tours throughout the UK. Frontman Baz Francis in fact can also count on acclaimed solo gigs in the USA, Russia, Germany, Finland and Switzerland proving once more that his old-school husky vocals are praised on national and international grounds.

With the re-release ‘A Peacock’s Tale’ and the ‘Stripped’ single on Magic Cat Records, the band are heading into a busy schedule of gigs and radio sessions, not to mention performing at ‘The Golden Diamond’ in Sutton-in-Ashfield on October 19, before they head into the studio for a session of new recordings. Wynter Gordon unveils video for ‘Stimela’

Needless to say we have been super impressed by Wynter Gordon’s free EP ‘Doleo’. The ‘Dirty Talk’ singer song writer has now unveiled the video for the lead track of that EP ‘Stimela’.

Simple, yet effective and mesmerizing that’s what the video looks like. The ‘Stimela’ video features Wynter, a female dancer and an instrument player, flanked in a background of mainly dark red, white and blue color. The video is simple but is so overempowering that it gives a very haunting look. It’s ambient, it’s painful, it’s sublime!

‘Stimela’ was inspired by Hugh Masekala’s anti-apartheid song of the same name and features a chorus sung in Zulu and African-pop production reminiscent of early-80s Genesis and solo Phil Collins.

It is the lead single taken from the first out of four free EP’s, the singer has released under the collection ‘Human Condition’ which can be downloaded. Part 1 ‘Doleo’ (latin for Pain) can be downloaded here

Fantasea is here! Azealia Banks’ free EP: download here

Harlem based Azealia Banks has been changing the current landscape of Hip Hop with her addictive mix of rap and dance club melodies since first single ’212′ surfaced end of last year.

In September her first album, ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’  is to be released. Yet that’s not stopping this talented lady from releasing her latest EP ‘Fantasea’ today.  It’s one of the great assets of Azealia, she’s not afraid to share new music with her fans. And a clever trick from her as well to get her music out there for people to get acquainted with her.

So what can you expect from Fantasea as an EP. We would say ‘Fantasea’ is actually much more an actual cd then an EP. Giving away 19 tracks for free, is not nothing and rather unusual for any artist these days.  Not to mention the incredible high standard of tracks like ‘Fierce’, ‘Atlantis’ (which is very similar to 212′) and ‘Fantasea’. Banks has this infectious natural way of mixing two styles in a fun way, and come up with an upbeat collection of tracks, perfect to 1) kick off a great night out 2) go absolutely mental on the dance floor and last but not least 3) chill out on after a great night out. It’s hard to pick favourites because each individual track, stands out on its own.  It’s unique, individual, and ultra-creative! The EP also features previous free downloads ‘F*** Up The Fun’, ‘Jumanji’ and ‘Nathan’ ft Styles P.

Fans will be happy to know that Azealia is giving the full EP away for free,  By doing so not only ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’  has to be the hip hop album of the year but it also sets  the expectations for her album very high.

The singer took to Twitter last night to mention that the ‘next stop is the album’. An exact date for ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ has not been released yet.  Banks recently released the video for ‘Van Vogue’ taken from her first EP ’1991′ which also includes the smash single ’212′ and ‘Liquorice’.

You can download the new EP here.

Wynter Gordon Review and EP for free!

A good week and a half ago we announced that American singer songwriter Wynter Gordon would be self releasing four free EP’s throughout the rest of 2012 despite still being signed to current labelAtlantic/Big Beat. The ‘Dirty Talk’ singer, who has written for big stars like Jennifer Lopez, Mary J Blige and Estelle revealed the main reason for self-releasing these EP’s is a way of being creative and experimenting with different styles of music which are rather distant from her current dance direction.

Revealing those four EP’s under the collective ‘ Human Condition’ Wynter explains all  four EP’s deal with a particular emotion people are familiar with; The first in line is ‘Doleo’, latin for pain, which consists of no less than 8 very different tracks:

One of those highlights is without a doubt the first single taken from the free EP, ‘Stimela’ which has been aired a few weeks ago.The track was inspired by Hugh Masekala’s anti-apartheid song of the same name and features a chorus sung in Zulu and African-pop production reminiscent of early-80s Genesis and solo Phil Collins.

‘Doleo’ in itself is a varied bundle of eight interesting, creative tracks where Wynter not only deals with the emotion of pain, but gives her listeners a way to overcome pain, and mesmerize everybody by coming up with an original style no one expected from her in the first place.

Fazer debuts ‘Killer’ and gets a GloPop review

As member of N-Dubz, it was bound to happen at some point, for Fazer to follow into the footsteps of colleagues Dappy and Tulisa and release his very first solo single ‘Killer’.

He’s been rather busy in the studio, writing tracks for other artists (incl. ex-girlfriend and colleague Tulisa), taking his time but fans will be pleased to hear Fazer’s completely set for the release of ‘Killer’ on August 26.

‘Killer’ itself sounds like a mix of Taio Cruz and the genre DubStep, making it sound very current for the charts, yet  the questions remains whether it will be enough to follow into the footsteps of ‘Number One’ and ‘Young’ to reach the number 1 spot in the charts. While the track itself is worked out cleverly, on a first listen we get the impression there’s that catchy hook missing, which is quite necessary for an upbeat track. The  track is building towards a bang, which doesn’t seem to happen.

Having said that, give it a bunch of good remixes, and a lot of radio airplay and the chances are high solo Fazer might give each N-Dubz member its first UK number one hit to fall back on. In reality however, three out of three is very unlikely. Stick to song writing and producing Fazer.

‘Killer’ is out on August 26 and available via pre-order.
