British chanteuse Paloma Faith is the latest singer-songwriter to lend her voice to a charming John Lewis advert to kick off its winter season. As its tradition states, the singer has decided to come up her own cover-interpretation of a an eighties classics.
This year, Paloma picked the INXS Classic ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ and adds her very own charming style and voice to the track. The single, which is out now, will also feature on a repackaged version of her latest album ‘Fall To Gace’ which has topped the UK Album charts earlier in the year, and spawned two hit singles ‘Falling Into Pieces’ and ’30 Minute Love Affair’.
Where Ellie Goulding made the cold winter nights a tad more cosy with her cover of the Elton John Classic ‘Your Song’, Paloma will make you fall in love over and over again. Absolutely gorgeous!

New album ‘Fall To Grace’, preceded by single ‘Picking Up The Pieces’ have certainly put English singer songwriter Paloma Faith back in the spotlight after a two year absence from the music scene. The new critically acclaimed album is currently still going strong in the charts and set to be one of the most successful albums of 2012. Perfect time to announce a new single. So that’s what Paloma has done…
Keeping up with fantastic quality and unforgettable tracks, Paloma has confirmed and unveiled the video for the second single, ’30 Minute Love Affair’. As with all the songs featured on her new album, the lyrics for ’30 Minute Love Affair’ is autobiographical and tells the story about an encounter she had as 14 year old with a busker at Leicester Square in London.
With a chorus going ”Runaway lover I soon discovered It was best when we left it I’ll never forget it Our 30 minute love affair” chances for a happy ending are rather slim, yet Faith proves once again that her way of dealing with memories from the past are amazingly translated in a fantastic track.
The video for the new single, which is out August 12, is set in a strip club where Paloma is performing before going backstage to share a little affair moment with her pianist player. It sets the mood of the entire song very well which in itself is already a dreamy mid tempo track with some electro influences. Very lovely indeed.
’30 Minute Love Affair’ is out on August 12 or can be downloaded already through the album ‘Fall To Grace’.
Many artists will agree, album number two is the one that needs to impress the fan base and potential new fans, making it the most intensive album to produce in an artists career and have it live up to expectations, even for the 26 year old singer Paloma Faith. The singer released her new album ”Fall To Grace” on Monday May 28 as the successor of ”Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful” (2009). ”Excited and scared. It may mean I’ll have to change my whole life again if it doesn’t do that well” was Paloma Faith’s response to several questions about the expectations of the new album ”Fall To Grace”. Paloma shouldn’t worry. Currently on top of the midweek album charts, the singer is set to meet all the expectations with the new album.
If you thought, the 26 year old would be a one trick pony and continue to release material in the style of her first album, might have quickly changed his mind to a rather open attitude with the release of the album’s lead single ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ which not only showed a more mature Paloma Faith but only a fantastic story teller. It’s the story telling that is really vital here, as ”Fall From Grace” is really a compilation of 12 stories taken from Paloma’s life, wrapped up in a new stylish sound of the singer. Of the album, Faith stated “The new album has taken on a very cinematic mood. I am very excited to introduce my new sound into the world. Working with Nellee Hooper (Björk, Madonna) has been really inspirational.”Faith told Dom Gourlay of Contactmusic.com that Fall to Grace is a personal record about a period of her life. “Likewise, Hooper said that working with Faith reminded him of his work with Björk, saying “At lunch [Paloma Faith] sat and talked in such detail, as if every song was a short film, referencing everything from Chinese romantic cinema to Hip Hop.”
The cinematic feel to the album is very much noticeable judging its artwork reminding us you’re about to be treated in a lavish world of cinema and theater, accompanied by a stunning singer who’s distinctive vocals are instantly recognizable.
One of the highlights of the album is ”30 Minute Love Affair” which is also confirmed as the next single to come from the new album. Its style which is compared by many as a Annie Lennox meets Drive meets Cyndi Lauper synth pop number is a rather outstanding choice as the next single and a nice successor for the current single. The authenticity and strong selling points for ”Fall To Grace” are its outshining in its cinematic ballads. ”Just Be” is another of these cinematic ballads which is absolutely breathtaking and really shines because of its integrity and sincerity. The most theatrical song on the album? That’s most likely ‘Let Me Down Easy’ which has a really rawness to it. But is it all very dark cinematic? No not at all, ”Blood, Sweat and Tears” for example, is one of the outstanding tracks by its distinctive mixture of beats and synths and Paloma’s extraordinary voice. At times the comparison with Lana Del Rey is not far fetched, especially during tracks ”Let Me Down Easy” and ”Beauty Of The End”, but the comparison only last for a fraction, as this young lady is so recognizable.
In all honesty, Paloma has nothing to worry about in terms of her lifestyle. ”Fall To Grace” is a masterpiece and a great addition to the 2012 most anticipated, memorable and classiest albums released.
”Fall To Grace” is available now at every music retailer, including iTunes, Amazon. The album can also be streamed via Spotify.

It’s high days for the Paloma Faith fans on the planet. The UK singer songwriter and actress has been teasing some goodies for her fans. Last week she revealed her new single ”Picking Up the Pieces” in full on BBC Radio 1 and yesterday the singer teased the artwork for her second album ”Fall To Grace”.
The cover sees Paloma floating in the air in a very long red dress, draped all the way down surrounded by parrots flying past her. Very theatrical and that’s the direction and concept of the full album, the singer explained in recent interviews.
She sticks to the promise as the video clip for ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ continues in the same trend. In the video Paloma plays a lady who’s trapped in a tempestuous relationship with a controlling man. Slowly but surely Paloma’s characters turns into a wax and begins to melt. The melting stands symbol to resemble the emotional crumbling she has suffered through the domestic abuse.
Quite a heavy storyline for the video, but the song really puts you through those emotions and make you get the idea. Paloma is gracious and elegant as always and doesn’t let down for a single second. if Paloma’s debut album ‘You want the truth or something beautiful’ didn’t have you fully convinced, her new album ”Fall To Grace” and the new single will.
‘Picking Up The Pieces’ will be released in the UK on May 20, while Fall To Grace will follow on May 28.
