It’s glittery, Pink and Yellow… what is it? J.Lo’s latest video

Busy with her very first world tour, and only just having released her first compilation album ‘Dance Again… the Hits’ it was unsure whether Jennifer Lopez would in fact release a video for her latest single ‘Goin’ In’.

J.Lo wouldn’t be J.Lo if she grabbed every opportunity to show her fans she’s a profound singer and dancer, so of course a video for the new single had to be expected at some point. The new video in fact is a mixture of vibrant colours; pink, yellow and white being the dominant ones. Furthermore the video seems to look back at some highlights of J.Lo’s career. The white outfits remind e.g. of her ‘Jenny on the Block’ era, and the LED scenes remind of a similar backdrop of ‘On the Floor’ last year mixed with the flashlights of ‘Waiting For Tonight’.

Though ‘Goin In’ hasn’t really set the charts on fire yet, with the new video and hopefully airplay on music channels, a minor hit for J.Lo might still be up for grabs. ‘Goin In’ and ‘Dance Again… the Hits’ are out now. Watch the video below:

Special: 5 actresses turned singers

It has happened on many occasions, singers turning into actresses once their career has kicked off. Britney, Christina, Madonna, Kylie, Cher they’ve all done it and in all honesty, many can count the success of their films on their fingers. But how about their colleagues in the film industry. Did they do better? Let’s have a look at our top 5 actress singing sensations.

5. Emmy Rossum

American actress Emmy Rossum, is the first to open our top five. The ‘Poseidon’ star was offered many classical music record deals after her role as Christine in the 2004 adaption of the musical ‘The Phantom of The Opera’ yet Rossum declined as she wanted to make a more mainstream pop album…. which she did. Her album ‘Inside Out’ was released in 2007 with the lead single , entitled ‘Slow Me Down’. Despite a few other singles a christmas EP in the same year, lead single and album failed to charts. There are talks about a second album, but a release date has not been set yet. Shame, as we loved the lead single a lot.

4. Nicole Kidman – Unusual Way

The Australian, redhead and former wife of Tom Cruise, proved in the past to be a classy actress possessing some rather impressive and distinctive vocals. Who could forget her role as Satine in ‘Moulin Rouge’ and her guest appearance during ‘Something Stupid’ with Robbie Williams in 2001. Kidman returned to the music industry in 2009 when she landed a role in the musical ‘Nine’ and proved once again what an all round entertainer Nicole really is.

3. Scarlett Johanson – Falling Down

The beautiful Scarlett Johansson, rose to fame in 1998 with her role in ‘The Horse Whisperer’ yet the singer showcased to have more talent than just being an actress. After attempts to play the main role in the West End version of ‘The Sound of Music’ and appearing in Justin Timberlake’s video of ‘What Comes arround… Goes Arround’ in 2007, Johansson recorded in the same year her debut album ‘Anywhere I lay My Head’. The song were written by Tom Wait, one of her favorite composers. Despite mixed reviews the album didn’t take off well in the US but Europe was charmed by the singer, earning her positions in the top 30 mainly in Central European countries. Since the singer is occassionally to be found on soundtracks for films and documentaries.Very indie, this version of Scarlett. We see lots of potential.

2. Kate Winslet – What If

Berkshire born and bred Kate Winslet surprised everyone back in 2001 when she was asked to sing the theme song for a new animated adaption of the Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ story. The proceeds of ‘What If’, the title of the single, went to the actress favorite charities. Not only did the single, which was released in November 2001, reach number 6 in the UK Singles charts, the song became a massive European hit, becoming number 1 in Ireland, Belgium and Austria. While Kate clearly possesses amazing vocals, she refused to accept any recording offers and stick to acting. What a shame, but we thank the lady for a wonderful piece of music.

So our number 1 actress turned into a singer…

well it has to be….

yes of course it is…

it is…

Jennifer Lopez

born in the Bronx, New York, Jennifer Lopez rose to fame in 1996 when she was casted to play in the biopic of Tejano pop singer Selena, receiving outstanding reviews for her acting. Three years later, after starring in roles as Anaconda, a failed marriage, the singer focused on the music industry and released her first single ‘If You Had my Love’ and album ‘On the 6′ , good for a top ten position globally. Since, the lady herself has released 29 singles, 7 full studio albums (of which one Spanish album), a remix album, featured on 6 singles as guest vocalist while continuing to act. And that’s not all, the all round entertainer, has kicked off her first world tour last week, accompanied with her first compilation album ‘Dance Again: The Hits’ coming out on July 24 this year. Featuring on that compilation hit is the singer’s massive hit ‘On The Floor’.

Wisin & Yandel – Follow the Leader ft Jennifer Lopez

Busy times for J.Lo! It’s been only two weeks since she aquainted the world with her new single ‘Dance Again’. And while the song was immediately released in US, it’s still unclear whether the song will also serve as a single for the latino queen in Europe.

Today we found out however that another new track has surfaced by miss Lopez, ”Follow the Leader” which is a collab with Puerto Rican duo Wisin & Yandel. And for some reason, we can’t help but think this could actually be the European first single for La Lopez.

The harmonica in the song is very addictive, still very clubby and has La Lopez all written over her! The parts of of Wisin & Yandel suits the song beautifully and are definately not as annoying as Pitbull’s part in ”Dance Again”. So please please please, a European release please!

The singer is also rumoured to announce on Monday her first world tour.

T.G.I. Friday with the new J.LO track ‘Dance Again’

Thank God It’s Friday! And what a great way to start off the weekend with a brand new track, by nobody else than actress, singer, dancer, fashionista, idols judge Jennifer Lopez.

The queen of latin pop has gone back to the studio with Red One and Pit Bull, for the new single ‘Dance Again’. It’s the same team who was responsible for her massive hit  ‘On the Floor’ last year.In 2012 she’s hoping to achieve the same success.

No lambada samples or anything, this is a brand new track which unlike to ‘On the Floor’, has the name Red One written all over it. Yes it is bouncy and dancy, but actually on a first hearing not as instant as its predecessor. Take away the Pit Bull parts, which would make the song actually a lot better, and you’d end up with a very European sounding mixture of Abba meets the Vengaboys in a latino salsa seasoned with some Melodifestivalen and Eurovision spice.

And that’s not bad at all actually, it’s still a fun, latino pop song with an easy to sing along chorus and a superstar who never dissapoints with the choice of men in her videos. Based on the art cover of the single, we’ll have plenty of that. The video, has already been filmed and will be officially presented April 5.

”Dance Again” should be available in the next coming days or weeks on iTunes. It’s yet to be decided whether the single will be the lead for a new album or a rumoured ‘Greatest Hits’ compilation.

Tell us your thoughts. What do you think of the new single by J.Lo?

Will.I.AM’s collaborates

Black Eyed Peas frontman and producer, Will.I.AM is treating us with a first collaboration from his new solo-project ‘’#WillPower’’. If we have to believe the rumours, the album will be full of collaborations including Nicole Scherzinger, Britney Spears, Shakira, and many others.

The premiere to kick off this bunch of collaborations is ‘T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)’ featuring the easy on the eye Jennifer Lopez and Rolling Stone Mick Jagger. The title of the song says it all really, it’s quite a difficult song to like at first. It’s got all the usual Will.IAM ingredients in it, big basses and beats, which could easily have been a little album filler for the Black Eyed Peas. The production itself is great, but somehow the song doesn’t leave much of an impression until Mick Jagger starts to take the vocals for his account. It’s a long wait to really see the song start flourishing, so it gives the impression to drag on. The chorus by Jennifer Lopez, is simple but yet catchy and after a few listens you do get to sing it along.

Overall, we are a tad disappointed with the song, which in comparison to what Will.IAM produced  for the Black Eyed Peas, unfortunately doesn’t reach to the same standards.
