No Doubt’s long awaited comeback: Watch ‘Settle Down’ Here
Eleven years… Eleven long year’s, that’s how long it’s been since the American besties from No Doubt released their last album. Yes there was a ‘best of’ in 2003 with a last single, but best of’s hardly count as albums really. So you can imagine the old school fans of the band, were pretty excited when a few months ago we were officially told La Stefani and the gang had started working on a new album.
To keep us updated on their progress a No Doubt video was posted every so often, but yesterday proved to be super-important because the wraps have come off the official video for new single ‘Settle Down’. And it’s bloody brilliant!!!
It opens with our leading gents driving their respective colour-filled rigs towards what can only be described as a party destination, where la Stefani is showing how to do a Party! The video was directed by friend of the band Sophie Muller, who also worked on ‘Don’t Speak’ and ‘Simple Kind of Life’.
The Diplo-produced track ‘Settle Down’ is in itself sublime as well and blends traditional Latin samba rhythms with the very own No Doubt trademark sound. It’s awesome, it’s hot and above all, it’s nothing like what’s in the charts at the moment. Old school fans of No Doubt will LOVE it, and new followers for the band are guaranteed. A Sure winner!
Settle Down’ is released September 17. Push & Shove , the new album, is released on September 24 in the UK and a day later in the US.
Wisin Y Yandel ft J.LO debut Follow the Leader Video
A few weeks ago we were one of the first to introduce the collaboration between Puerto Rican duo Wisin Y Yandel ft latino singer Jennifer Lopez. The threesome have now officially unveiled the video for their infectious catchy summer tune ”Follow the Leader”.
What is it with Miss Lopez these days, bring these hot sexy sassy tunes out in Latin-America. With ”Follow The Leader” she doesn’t dissapoint either, and brings a huge fiesta along. But don’t be fooled, yes the beats and upbeat tempo might sound hugely summery the video is a mix of jumping off buildings (Parcour) and ‘Mission Impossible’.
Miss Lopez is showing off that gorgeous body of hers, spiced up with some fake tattoos and proves once again she owns the whole concept (sorry Wisin, sorry Yandel). If this is anything to go by, the world tour of this lady is going to be massive.
BUT… while we are completely besotted by J.LO we are not impressed by the fact that the rest of the world is currently not able to buy either ‘Dance Again’ or ‘Follow The Leader’. But good news as that’s about to change ”Dance Again” has it’s official UK release on May 20th. All we have to do now is cross our fingers for the tour to get a European and Asian leg and a few more of these hot damn latin flavoured tracks equal and we’ll very much be happy J.LO Bunnies!
Paulina Rubio – Boys Will Be Boys Video
Mexican singer/model Paulina Rubio is one of the countries most influential latino women in the world. Despite being a huge star in the Spanish speaking countries, her attempt in 2000 to break through globally with the English album ‘Borderline’ didn’t quite take off despite being huge effort and being the supporting act for Enrique Iglessias tour.
Never mind 2000 because the singer is giving it another go and is teaming up with producer Red One on ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ a summery eurobeat track.
The video for the track saw its premiere earlier this day and brings a rather naughty side of Paulina to the surface. Men locked up in doll houses, men used as paintball target and many more. I see I see. Not quite what we expected with the title ‘Boys Will be Boys’. The video for the track was shot in London and also produced by Red one.
The single which is currently available in Spain, is to be the lead single for either a new English album or a re-issue of the singers latest Spanish Album ‘Brava’. More news soon!
One To Watch: Gusttavo Lima – Balada
2012 is shaping up to be a huge year for Brazil. A few months ago we’ve already mentioned Michel Teló who’s currently scoring a massive hit with ‘Ai Se Eu Te Pego’ worldwide. (For the review check here).
Following in his footsteps is 23 year old Brazilian singer Gusttavo Lima, who’s single ‘Balada’ is slowly starting to appear in several charts worldwide, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he does a Teló. The singer rose to fame in 2010 when he signed with Brazilian record company Som Livre and has since released 3 albums, of which two live, and 7 singles including ‘Balada’.
It’s a busy time for the young singer. Since January 2012, he embarked on a first international tour with shows in US Latin markets in Florida, and later on in Atlanta (Georgia), Newark (New Jersey) and and Revere (Massachusetts).
Expect a fun, joyful, latin song which we personally find a tad better than the offering made by Michel Teló. The intro is a very poppy 90ies riddle which lasts about 10 seconds before it bursts into its latin feel good rythm. Perhaps a tad more difficult to sing along, although the ‘che che re reche che che re reche che che’ bits help the song massively stand out.
Enjoy the song
No details yet on a UK release but we’ll follow it up and let you know as soon as we hear more.
