Another chapter in our ‘Those Who Didn’t Make It’ Eurovision series. And we’re off to Germany, the host country of last years contest. After the victory brought by Lena Meyer Landrut, ProSieben, ARD & NDR decided to follow the same route of the system used in 2010 for their Baku representative.
Over the past two months, ”Unser Star Fur Baku” saw in true X Factor/Idol style 10 candidates performing and voted off all the way until last week’s final 2 performers,Roman and Italian German Ornella de Santis, battling it out for the Baku ticket.
Both had been offered three songs which they performed the show. The audience and viewers at home chose for each act the song they thought would be most suitable at Eurovision; Roman ended up with ‘Standing Still’ and Ornella de Santis with ”Quietly”.
As the title suspects, Roman was the man who won the competition and will be defending Germany at this years Eurovision. It’s a shame for Ornella because her song is truly beautiful. It sounds a bit like a little lullaby, possibly because Ornella’s vocals are so fragile. The lyrics are also very genuine and real.
Hope you enjoy it!
