It’s astonishing to think it’s already been three years since chanteuse Little Boots made the beautiful weather with her electro pop song ‘New in Town’. Even now it’s just as current as it was three years ago. Anyhow, since then the releases of succeeding singles haven’t really done as great as many would have hoped but new single ‘Headphones’ might just hopefully do the trick and get Miss Bootsy back into the charts.
It’s poppy and catchy and in many ways reminds us back to the early days of Little Boots. We Like it!
the new single is the successor of ‘Every Night I Say A Little Prayer’. The video for the new single was directed by Bullion Collective and is out now via iTunes. A new album is expected later in the year.
Carly Rae Jepsen is currently holding on to her UK number 1, fighting off Conor Maynard, but with a load of new tracks being out this week, will the Canadian superstar survive at the top for another week. We compiled a list of five songs which we think have potential to do very well in the coming weeks or months.
Queen B returns with a huge banger from her latest album ’4′. The singer, who yesterday was announced most beautiful woman in the world, returns to the music scene with a massive club tune ”End of Time”. The introduction has a military feel to it with the drums, and is 3 minutes of pure Beyonce entertainment. must-buy!
Little Boots, mainly known for her smash hit ‘New in Town’, is back with a new project ‘Every Day I Say A Prayer’ hoping to set the charts back on fire. It’s the first of a new album, which hopefully sees the daylight later in the year. Little Boots has gone trance, mixed and mixed it with a poppy chorus. Not a bad attempt, and should gain her respectable airplay on the radio. Whether it will reach the same positions as ‘New in Town’, we’re not fully sure. Perhaps a few listens will convince us.
Next up are Foster The People. The American indie band have enjoyed considerable success since last year and are now releasing the new single ”Don’t Stop”. As with its predecessors it has the bands sound written all over it, though it isn’t as catchy as ”Call It What You Want”. A few listens is necessary, production wise is sublime. Definately a song you don’t want to miss out on.
Ren Harvieu, was included in Digitalspy’s one to watch chapters early this year, and again we totally get why they included this talented young lady from Broughton, England. The symphonic harmonies combined with pop elements, see the release of ”Open Up Your Arms”, the debut single of this talented young lady. It’s the lead track for her debut album ”Through The Night” which follows May 7. Breathtaking!
He’s the man of the moment, with new tracks produced for Cheryl, Scissor Sisters, Rihanna but Calvin Harris has found the time to release his latest single, featuring American R&B singer Ne-Yo. ‘Lets Go’ is currently already the midweek number 1 in the UK, and seems to be forming a real threat to Carly Rae Jepsen’s offering. As for the track it sounds very similar to ‘We Found Love’, which was a huge hit globally. Good on the Harris!
We haven’t really put our sights yet on the Greek music industry but that’s all to change with the ‘electro mermaid of the Mediterranean Sea’ Olga Kouklaki.
Olga, born in 1979 Athens, played the piano at a very young age, but really found her muse and passion in music, when she moved to Paris in 2001. Since then her passion has flourished which resulted in a first English record released in 2003 under the stage name ODD. Growing more into her passion and discovering the many talents she had within the music industry, she finally found her feet in 2008 with the help of Nouvelle Vague producer Marc Collin, who helped her with her debut album ”Getalife”.
And now four years later on, the girl has evolved even more, and released a new album ‘I U need’. The first single taken from the album, carries the same title and is dark pop electronica topped off with a deep and somber voice of Olga. If you like the likes of Little Boots, then you’ve found yourself a decent match with this Greek lady.
The new album is according to the singer more visual, more accessible and definitely more appealing. Well her new single definately has us excited. We can’t wait to hear more… Plus electro mermaids, especially from the Mediterranean are awesome!
Enjoy the video
‘I U Need’, the lead single and both the album are available via iTunes for download.
BBC Sound of 2012 winner, Michael Kiwanuka hasn’t quite reached the success of his predecessors Jessie J, Little Boots and Ellie Goulding and set the charts on fire with his single ‘Home Again’ but mark our words as the new single ‘I’m Getting Ready’ has good chances of changing it over.
While ‘Home Again’ sounded very at ease and peaceful, ‘I’m Ready’ gives Michael’s vocals the chance to shine more. The song sounds a lot more sincere then ‘Home Again’ and we feel that this could be the big breakthrough for the man since winning the BBC sound of 2012.
Michael has also released the video for the song, which you can find below. His single ‘I’m Getting Ready’ will be available for purchase on Itunes on March 11, while his debut album ‘Home Again’ will be available the day after on March 12.
