This morning the New York based Scissor sisters have revealed the new video for their upcoming single ‘Baby Come Home’. The track is the third cut lifted from their album ‘Magic Hour’ which was released this Monday May 28th.
‘Baby Come Home’ is one of the highlights from the new album and succeeds the UK #12 single ‘Only The Horses’ and promo single ‘Shady Love’ featuring Azaelia Banks.
The overall feel of the video? Well expect to meet a lot of characters who for some reason can all be linked to beer. As for the song itself, in our review of the album ‘Magic Hour which you can find here, ‘Baby Come Home’ is probably the one song which comes closest to the TaDah area , the second album in the band’s repertoire.
The song ‘Baby Come Home’ and the album ‘Magic Hour’ are both available via iTunes, Amazon, Spotify.
It’s been two years since the Scissor Sisters released their amazing 3rd album ”Night work” globally. The wait is over however for the New York based group as they are gearing up for the release number four ”Magic Hour” on Monday.
Things had gone remarkably quiet for the group since 2010. Luckily for the fans, lead singer Jake Shears confirmed via his twitter account on October 31, 2011 a new album was on its way. With only a few days to go, we’d take the opportunity to review the album and prepare you for what is most likely one of the big anticipated albums of 2012.
13-tracks is what you can expect from the new born Scissor Sisters album and all of them are very unique in their way. As lead singer Jake Shears mentioned during an interview ”It’s a sweet joyful mélange of beat-driven future-pop. It style-hops all over the place unabashedly”.
Are you intrigued? Well you should be! Not only are singles ‘Shady Love’, which features New York uprising talent Azaelia Banks, and ‘Only the Horses’, a huge pop anthem, created with producer of the moment Calvin Harris present. There’s lots of potential hit material.
Take e.g. intro song ‘Baby Come Home to Me’ a mid uptempo track which is probably closest to the group’s ‘TaDah’ past. It works very well as an opener and sets a great mood for the new album which sees more midtempo songs, each interpreted in a new way. The creativity of the band and their originality is to be recognized in track such as ”Inevitable” another mid-tempo synth pop song which is so laid back setting the perfect mood for a little bit of romance with the girl or boyfriend.
The Scissor Sisters wouldn’t be the Scissor sisters is they flirted with some cheekiness. Well ‘Magic Hour’ is full of it. ”Keep Your shoes On”, ”Let’s Have a Kiki” are both cheeky, rich in drummy beats & synthesizers giving it a light hearted, sexy and cheeky feel. The latter especially also features our favourite lyric of 2012 so far ‘Kiki so so, oui oui … no no ‘ Delicious!
”Magic Hour” is an album which features tracks for everyone’s taste. There are the perfect tracks to get you even more in the mood to book a holiday (‘San Louis Obispo’, ‘Self Control’ and ‘Best in Me’) to the hauntingly beautiful ballad ‘Year of Living Dangerously’ which starts as a dark synth pop song, but bursts open into a violin-centred ballad, given it something very Eurovision (yes really!). ‘Secret Life of Letters’ it’s all about Jake Shears and a piano, making it probably the only proper ballad of the album. The stripped back track is very intimate and pure making it so nice, pure and dreamy. What’s not to like about the new album.
The standard album includes 13 tracks, however a deluxe edition will also be available which features 3 additional tracks, including the new track ‘F**k Yeah’ which has a similar build up to ‘Shady Love’ but sees the Scissor Sisters flirting with Dub step and proves once again how brilliant they are in mixing different types of music, and deliver outstanding tracks. The other two tracks added are remixes of ‘Let’s Have a Kiki’ and ‘F**k Yeah).
yes it took The Scissor Sisters two years to come back with a new album, but it’s been bloody worth it. This is a highly anticipated album, which can not be missed in your cd collection. The new album ”Magic Hour” is out via i-tunes, Amazon and any other retailer on Monday May 28.

American glampop band, The Scissor sisters are busy. After teasing their fans with the making off their new video, and revealing the artwork through twitter last night, the foursome have released today the official video for their new single ‘Only the Horses’.
The track, produced by Alex Ridha & ‘man of the moment’ Calvin Harris, had it’s debut on Radio 1 two weeks ago, sees the band return to the oh so familiar ‘Scissor’sound which got them noticed quite a few years back. It’s camp, it’s got a massive chorus and it’s POP as it should be!
Unlike the ”Shady Love” video, we see a bit more about the Scissor Sisters, who are by the looks of it trapped in some sort of pyramid. Central however in the video are a bunch of wild horses, (Ah that explains the title!). There’s paint involved. A nice video.
”Only the horses” is officially released May 13th via Itunes and is the lead single for their new album ”Magic Hour” which follows May 28th. The new album, their fourth, is the successor of their album ‘Night Work’, which got outstanding reviews. The artwork for ”Magic Hour” features zebras staring at a silver ball showing their reflections, staying very within the ‘horse family”. They have us excited!
