Jodie Harsh vs Melanie C – The Night EP

Are you one of those people wondering how wonderful it would be for former Spice Girl Mel C to return to the dance scene after her ‘I Turn To You’ megahit back in the days? Well your prayers have been fulfilled.

”Think About It”, the first single from Sporty’s latest album ‘The Sea’ showed potential for the only Spice Girl with a music career to go and explore the dance scene at some point, largely by the great remixes done for the single. Since the singer’s been on tour and teamed up with London’s most influential and trensetting club DJ Jodie Harsh to work on this new project.

The project which both have been teasing about for some time created a huge buzz and confirmed the fans of both would be in for a true club treat. The duo released yesterday the new EP called ‘The Night’.

The result is a three-track EP sees a unique combined force between Dj and former Spice Girl who moves away from her pop/rock repertoire creates some mega dance tunes who have all the important key-elements to turn into  summer anthems in the club scene in the UK and overseas like Ibiza and Ayia Napa.

”Set You Free” and ”Sunrise” are two uptempo tracks  while ”Walk Away” sees a more melancholic, laid-back side of both artists. Jodie Harsh in particular said about the latter in a recent interview how intrigued and fascinated she was by the track as she’d never produced a track like it before.

If you’re into club music, or a huge Mel C/Jodie Harsh fan then this is an EP you do not want to miss. Each one of these tracks are the result of two great artists who are active in a totally different musical environment but have join forces to create bloodytastic EP in all its creativity and passion. The EP and collab proof there it’s more than possible to deliver brilliant tracks which for a change don’t sound generic or bland.

A must buy!

Thank God It’s Friday: Sporty time!

hey hey everybody. Hope you all had a great week and are ready for the weekend! We’ll take you back to the summer of 2000 with our track. Back in 1996, 5 girls conquered the world with their big characters, massive shoes and brilliant pop music: The Spice Girls.

After their world domination things turned a bit quiet for them in 1999, when they announced they would no longer perform as a group for a while to focuss on their own solo-projects. And it was Sporty Spice who took the lead in her solo career and is the only Spicey to date who is still current in the music industry, having released 5 albums through her own independant label.

Her biggest hit in Europe was back in 2000 with the dance anthem ‘I turn To You’ which reached number 1 in many European countries. Perfect for a night out, or even for the gym.

Since 2000 Melanie released 4 more albums and is currently promoting her latest album ‘The Sea’ in Europe and the United Kingdom.

Enjoy the video!

Yesterday’s music in a nutshell.

let’s start our news down under where Kylie Minogue has confirmed she’ll be performing at this years Mardi Gras in Sydney. . Kylie’s performed at the event 14 years ago and is thrilled to take the stage again. The singer kicked off celebrations for her 25th anniversary in the music industry this week. While Kylie’s celebrating her career, Belgian/Aussie Gotye has been crowned the number 1 in the ‘Triple J hot 100′ with ‘Somebody that I used to Know’ ft New Zealand songstress Kimbra. While ‘Somebody that I used to know’ is gaining radio play in the UK, Europe is ready for ‘Eyes Wide Open’. Both songs are tracks on the latters latest album ‘Making Mirrors’.

Mel B has reportedly announced, during an Australian Breakfast interview, that the Spice Girls are reuniting for the Queens Jubilee on July 4th. A possible Spice Girls reunion has been anticipated in the media for quite some time, with rumours about the girls performing at the Olympics but have been denied by both Mel B and Mel C.  The group also sees their Musical ‘Viva Forever’ (written by Jennifer Saunders) being launched this year. An official announcement from the group itself has not yet been made.

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has teased the video for her upcoming track ‘Elephant’. Be prepared to see a sexy Alexandra busting out some great moves. The video footage can be seen here. Alexandra Burke’s ‘Elephant’ will be available to buy on March 12th. Other X Factor news for Marcus Collins, who’s had the radio premiere of his ‘Seven Nation Army’ today. The review can be found below. Less good news for Harry Styles of One Direction and Caroline Flack (Xtra Factor host) who have reportedly ended their relationship. The boys of One direction will be appearing into an episode of Miranda Cosgrove’s ‘Icarly’, which surely will make them a tad more popular to crack the American music industry. And last but not least, according to Cheryl Cole’s manager Will.I.AM, Cheryl will never return to the show, as she doesn’t need it apparently. Awww….

Last but not least Britney Spears and Shakira, are according to some close sources to Shakira’s management, preparing to duet. The duet should be released later during the year. Shakira has previously collaborated with Beyonce on ‘Beautiful Liar’. And since Britney has gone the dancey routine, we don’t mind a collaboration between these two in the same style.
