American jazz chanteuse Melody Gardot had us excited for her new single ‘Mira’ for quite some time now with several teasers, building up a lot of anticipation. At last, ”Mira” was released this week and is the lead for her new album ‘The Absence’ at the end of May.
The singer’s music story began when she was 19. Being involved in a car accident and having fractured her pelvis, damaged her spine and left with hypersensitiveness to light and sound, music was Gardot’s way to recover and deal with the accident. It was her form of therapy. Gardot says that being on stage is the only time when she does not feel any pain. “It was addictive,” she recalls about her first few performances.
Now she’s 25 and a global phenomenon with her jazzy, soulful tracks. ”Mira” the new single is very summery and oozes class and has set the bar very high for the rest of the album. Her new album ‘The Absence’ is full of Southern, Latin-American influences, inspired by Gardots’ travel experiences all over the world. We love it!
