What a year it’s been for Conor Maynard. 12 months ago, he was living in the seaside city of Brighton and now he’s one of the biggest British teenage singers with millions of fans.
As the third cut from his debut album, the teenager has chosen ‘Turn Around’, which features Ne Yo as next single. The track succeeds ‘Vegas Girl’ and ‘Can’t Say No’ and could well be the singer’s first number 1 hit in the UK, considering he’s teaming up with the man who’s the current number 1 in the UK with his latest effort Let Me Love You (Until You Love Yourself). In the video both lads show off their dancing skills and they are smooth. Amazing!
We’ve never wanted to compare Conor to that other superstar, yes Justin Bieber, and ‘Turn Around’ is exaclty why. At the young age of eighteen, Maynard has found his own edgy pop style rapidly, which makes him unique and already a serious contender to join the line up of all round great performers like Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
‘Turn Around’ ft Ne Yo is set to be released as a single on October 7. The track is already available through Maynard’s debut album ‘Contrast’.
American R&B singer songwriter Ne-Yo appeared as the guest vocalist on Calvin Harris upbeat track ‘Let Go’ and earned himself another massive hit here in the UK, succeeding previous hits ‘So Sick’, ‘Closer’ and ‘Beautiful Monster’. The upbeat dance R&B is a style the singer suits his vocals very well so no surprise Ne-Yo’s decided to take on a similar approach and pick ‘Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)’ as the second single from his upcoming album ‘R.E.D’
With a cracking dance tune, expectations of a video are high to show some high quality bum wiggling (and a bit more than that) and that’s exactly what Ne-Yo delivers. The video is set in a warehouse where Ne-Yo is flanked by a handful of backing dancers, dancing their hearts out.
The actual release for the new single is September 2nd while the new album, Ne-Yo’s fifth studio album, will be released on September 17 in the UK, and one day later in the US.
Carly Rae Jepsen is currently holding on to her UK number 1, fighting off Conor Maynard, but with a load of new tracks being out this week, will the Canadian superstar survive at the top for another week. We compiled a list of five songs which we think have potential to do very well in the coming weeks or months.
Queen B returns with a huge banger from her latest album ’4′. The singer, who yesterday was announced most beautiful woman in the world, returns to the music scene with a massive club tune ”End of Time”. The introduction has a military feel to it with the drums, and is 3 minutes of pure Beyonce entertainment. must-buy!
Little Boots, mainly known for her smash hit ‘New in Town’, is back with a new project ‘Every Day I Say A Prayer’ hoping to set the charts back on fire. It’s the first of a new album, which hopefully sees the daylight later in the year. Little Boots has gone trance, mixed and mixed it with a poppy chorus. Not a bad attempt, and should gain her respectable airplay on the radio. Whether it will reach the same positions as ‘New in Town’, we’re not fully sure. Perhaps a few listens will convince us.
Next up are Foster The People. The American indie band have enjoyed considerable success since last year and are now releasing the new single ”Don’t Stop”. As with its predecessors it has the bands sound written all over it, though it isn’t as catchy as ”Call It What You Want”. A few listens is necessary, production wise is sublime. Definately a song you don’t want to miss out on.
Ren Harvieu, was included in Digitalspy’s one to watch chapters early this year, and again we totally get why they included this talented young lady from Broughton, England. The symphonic harmonies combined with pop elements, see the release of ”Open Up Your Arms”, the debut single of this talented young lady. It’s the lead track for her debut album ”Through The Night” which follows May 7. Breathtaking!
He’s the man of the moment, with new tracks produced for Cheryl, Scissor Sisters, Rihanna but Calvin Harris has found the time to release his latest single, featuring American R&B singer Ne-Yo. ‘Lets Go’ is currently already the midweek number 1 in the UK, and seems to be forming a real threat to Carly Rae Jepsen’s offering. As for the track it sounds very similar to ‘We Found Love’, which was a huge hit globally. Good on the Harris!
Justin Bieber turned 18 the other week. Wooo! And what a better way to celebrate then teaming up with Far East Movement and let the world know that from now on he will live his life the way he want.
But… We feel slightly underwhelmed by what ‘Live My Life’ has turned out to be. We’re all for changing musical direction and enjoy our dancey club tracks but there is a reason why many dj’s choose to go for female vocalists instead of male. ‘Live My Life’ is the perfect example why simply because, Bieber’s voice doesn’t blend with this song in a particular good way. While singers as Usher and Ne-Yo have the right tone colour suitable for dance tracks, Justin’s sounds very flimsy and too autotuned. So Sorry Justin! And what’s with the ‘On the Foor’ sample during the verses? They are so 2011!
An official release date for ‘Live My Life’ has not been given yet for UK iTunes. We’ll keep you posted.
Calvin Harris is on a high after his 12 week number 1 hitsingle with Rihanna and has now released a new track called ‘Let’s Go’ featuring the vocals of R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo. Ne-Yo is the 4th supporting artist after Rihanna, Kelis and Dizzy Rascal. The new track is the lead for the man’s new album which is scheduled for a yet to be confirmed date this year.
Keeping the success of ‘We Found Love’ in mind, some elements in the song have a strong resemblance. Calvin Harris is slowly turning into the Uk answer to David Guetta and we have to admit we like it very much.
A release date for ‘Let’s Go’ hasn’t been announced yet. The track ‘Lets Go’ was exclusively played on the BBC radio 1 show last night, and officially introduced by Calvin himself.Soon after several radio stations picked it up as well.
