Marina and the Diamonds – Power & Control Video

Marina Diamandis, better known under her stage name Marina and the Diamonds is on a high. Not only has her recent single ”Primadonna” achieved its best result in the charts since the singer came to the surface of the pop industry , her new album ”Electra Heart” is also one of the most anticipated and successful albums of 2012 so far, with several international releases still ahead.

The Welsh singer revealed during the release that ”Power & Control” would be the successor of ”Primadonna” and released today  the video for the track as ”Part 6: Power & Control”. The new track kicks of with a haunting intro before it bursts into a nicely moist mixture of synthesizers and beats wrapped up in a nice pop jacket. Quite culinary there for a minute.

Marina is also delivering one of the best lyrics of the year by singing ” You may be good looking but you’re not a piece of art” so go start facebooking or twittering that one ladies and gentlemen…

The video sees the singer in a classy out black dress, playing some tricks on a rather hunky model. Clearly it’s all about Power & Control, which makes the video rather cliche but take the video away you still end up with a cracker of a tune, which has all the ingredients to become one of the most played hits this summer and hopefully gets Marina finally to that number 1 spot.

”Power & Control” is released on July 9 as separate single, the album version can already be bought through the album ”Electra Heart” via iTunes, Amazon, Spotify.

Eurovision Song Contest Final

The 57th Eurovision Song Contest is coming to a close tonight. The contest, which is held in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan after the duo Ell & Niki won the contest last year in Dusseldorf, will choose its winner among the 26 countries in the final. 42 countries initially signed up for Europe’s annual contest which has an audience of 120 million viewers worldwide. 36 of them took part in the two semi finals held on Tuesday and Thursday, and 20 of them qualified to take part in the grand final tonight where they will be meeting the six automatically qualified entries of host country Azerbijan, Germany, Spain,  France, United Kingdom and Italy.

But who will win this year’s Eurovision? Will it be the huge favourite Sweden with Loreen? Or will the Russian grannies grab the victory from her? Or will Engelbert Humperdinck, the UK hopefully bring the competition home? Or the Italian lady? It will be a very interesting show with lots of variety, that’s for sure. All 42 countries who took part in this years contest will be voting tonight and decide their winner. The results, a mix of jury votes and televoting, will be announced during the show. If you haven’t quite made up your mind. Underneath is a recap of all 26 songs in the final.

For UK viewers, the Eurovision Song Contest can be followed LIVE from BBC 1 at 8pm and is provided with commentary by Graham Norton.

terminal ‘My Chemical’ acoustic video

the guys from terminal are as you probably have noticed already, our favourite band since GloPop started. Their latest single ‘My Chemical’ is currently one of our most played tracks of 2012 and while the anticipation grows for successor ‘Together We Are One’ terminal have treated us with an acoustic version of ‘My Chemical’ on video.

Filmed in black and white, the two and a half minute video showcases again why it is so important for these guys to be independent so they can continue to create magnificent gems. The stripped back, acoustic version of ‘My Chemical’ is just as amazing as the studio version. Brilliant job guys!

For those who haven’t bought ‘my chemical’ by terminal yet on Itunes, please do. And support them.

Enjoy.

Emin Baby Get Higher free download

Busy weeks are coming up for this lovely fella. Emin Agalarov, simply known as Emin is gearing up to release his second album ‘After the Thunder’ on May 21st.  The Azeri singer has caught the attention in the UK since the success of the album ‘Wonder’  and its singles last year (BBC Radio 2 album of the week anyone?) and has since has been signed to EMI Germany to release his future singles and album internationally.

The lead to his new album, ”Baby Get Higher” can already count on the support of BBC Radio 2 as it’s been featured on their A-Playlist. As this years Eurovision interval act on May 26th, the singer has all the potential to score across Europe with this new track. It’s a great track which mixes pop music with consistent lyrics and a warm voice, giving the song an extra touch. The track which is co-written by Mark Read (from A1) is the perfect introduction for the self -assured, genuine man of many talents. Originally born in Baku,  Azerbaijan Emin relocated at an early age to Moscow and has since studied in Europe , completing further studies in Jersey,  United States and becoming a very successful entrepreneur in the States and Russia.

On the new album, Emin continues to work with producer Brian Rawling (James Morrison, Olly Murs, Jls, Cher) who continues to allow Emin’s passion for music and song writing shine through, making him the perfect ambassador for Azerbaijani music. As we mentioned, Emin has also been announced as the interval act during this years Eurovision Song Contest final, which will be held on May 26. ”To perform in front of so many people at the Eurovision Song Contest in your home country, would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Both as an artist and an Azeri”.

The new album by Emin ”After the Thunder” is out on May 21st. The new single ”Baby Get Higher”-EP  is out now on iTunes. The single edit of the song can also be downloaded for free via this link

Rihanna: Where Have You Been Video

In all honesty, we weren’t too impressed with the song choices of ‘You Da One’ and ‘Talk That Talk’ as new singles from Rihanna’s latest album. The singer can consider herself to be back in our good books with the release of ‘Where Have you Been’.

The track, which was written by Ester Dean, Lukasz Gottwald, Calvin Harris, Henry Walter and Geoff Mack, whilst production of the song was completed by Harris, Cirkut and Dr. Luke is without a doubt one of the highlights from the singer’s latest album ‘Talk That Talk’ and has all the potential to be as big as ”We Found Love”, which was also produced by Calvin Harris.

”Where have you been” is very much the perfect mix between house, pop and dance music. It’s a very infectious track which catches your attention immediately and doesn’t leave your mind for a while. ‘You Da One’ and ‘Talk That Talk’ hardly had an impact on the charts, but ‘Where Have you Been’ is right up our street and we think it’s one of those tracks that definately has the potential to be one of the most popular tracks of 2012 included in the end of year charts.

The video, which was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Dave Myers, sees the singer in exotic clothing, an acting as a jungle princess. The video is also Rihanna’s debut as a choreographer.

the single has so far been released in the US and Germany, while the UK sees its official release on May 28 via Itunes, Amazon and any other record stores.

Enjoy the video.
