There’s not much known yet about the trio ‘Sam and The Womp’ but the trio seem to have a feeling for infectious summer trumpet music. In literally hours of being released (yes it’s out since today) their debut single ‘Bom Bom’ has shot to the number 1 in the Itunes charts. Rita Ora, be careful girl, these guys might just take your number one spot away from you next week.
It’s infectious and summery, on a wave of trumpets and dance beats, so what more can you ask for. Perfect for the current heatwave!
‘Bom Bom’ by Sam and the Womp is out now! Watch the video below:
Going on holiday? And wondering which tracks you might get bombarded with over the next fourteen days while you’re relaxing near the pool? Well don’t worry any longer, because GloPop is here to give you an overview of what’s currently topping the chart in five of Europe’s biggest music industries.
Spain: Cali & El Dandee feat. David Bisbal – No Hay 2 Sin 3 (Gol) (out Now!)
Alejandro Rengifo (Cali) and Mauricio Rengifo (Dandee), together Cali & Dandee, are a Colombian dance duo who have teamed up with Spain’s most popular singer David Bisbal for an uptempo summer dance anthem entitled ‘No Hay 2 Sin 3 (Gol)’. The song’s been in the Spanish chart for 9 weeks but has only managed to attain the number 1 this week. It’s the second number 1 single for the Colombian duo.
Germany: Lykke Li – I follow Rivers (Out now!)
Swedish songstress Lykke Li will be chuffed. Although her track ‘I follow Rivers’ has been out since 2008, it’s now nearly three four years later proving to be a massive hit at the continent. Belgium, the Netherlands and France have fallen for her mesmerizing indie-pop track last year, and now it’s Germany’s turn to welcome Lykke Li as their number one.
22 year old Brazilian pop singer Gusttavo Lima, has followed into the footsteps of country man Michel Teló and is currently conquering many European countries with his summer hit ‘Balada Boa (Tche Tche rere)’. Job done in Italy however, as the man’s steadily holding on to the number 1 position for six full weeks. The whole of Europe has fallen for Brazilian pop so be aware!
France: Carly Rae Jepsen – Call My Name (Out Now!)
Canadian superstar Carly Rae Jepsen, proves to be a strong contender for the end of year charts. Her global debut ‘Call Me Maybe’ has taken its number 1 position back in France after being number 1 for a week in June. The total amount of weeks on number 1 in France comes down to three weeks. Well done Carly!
United Kingdom: Maroon 5 – Payphone ft Wiz Khalifa (Out Now)
Things looked rather grim at first for Maroon 5 latest single ‘Payphone’ when a released cover of their track made it nearly to the top. However good news for the American guys, who managed to take the number 1 last week. Whether they can hold on for another week will be difficult. the Calvin Harris Remix of Florence+ The Machine’s track ‘Spectrum’ seems to be having the number 1 in the bag. We’ll find out tomorrow.
Another week’s gone by. Time for the weekend. And what a great way to start the weekend with a house track from 1999 which spend 3 weeks at the number 1 here in the UK.
French house musician Mr Oizo’s ”Flatbeat” was included as a track on his album ”Analog Worms Attack”. When he released the video featuring Flat Eric, a hand muppet which also appeared in the Levi’s advertising at the time, the song gained lots of attraction, reaching number 1 in the United Kingdom, Finland, Belgium, Italy, Austria & Germany and reaching a top 5 positions in many more.
Coldplay started off 2012 amazingly seeing ‘Paradise’ climbing all the way to number 1 in the first week, and thus making it the first number 1 of the year.
The 4-piece, have now released the video for the 3rd cut of their 5th album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ being ‘Charlie Brown’. The colourful video sees extracts of the band playing amongst fans wearing ‘xyloband’ bracelets, one of the unique elements during their concerts.
‘Charlie Brown’ is as ‘Paradise’ a very anthemic song and reminds us in many ways to the ‘Speed of Light’ track the band released now quite a few years ago.
Great video for a great song. Enjoy!
the track ‘Charlie Brown’ and Coldplay’s 5th album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ are both available for download on Itunes.
Lets have a look at whats happening in Europe at the moment in terms of number ones.
And funny enough we came across this song by Brazilian Michel Telo called ‘Ai se eu te pego!’ it’s currently a number 1 in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Suriname, Turkey and many other countries.
It almost feels like summer again. Get those shorts out, put the barbee on, go wild with the sun creme. Oh yeah! It’s incredibly catchy too, even though I don’t understand a word Portuguese. What do you think of the song? Get involved!!!
