Official UK Chart update 06.01.13: Does James Arthur continue his reign?

officialchartCan James Arthur continue his reign over the UK singles charts after this festive season or are we getting a brand new number one? We’re about to find out.

But before we have a look at the top of this weeks let’s check out what else has been going on in the charts. With the festive season being officially over, it’s a slow chart with only a few new entries in the charts. Despite their impressive debut single, Rudimental’s new single ‘Not Giving In’ ft Alex Clare only manages to enter the chart at number 40. Not the best start, which can also be said for the christmas number 1, ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’ by the Justice Collection has a hard knock, falling 16 places to number 21. One Direction’s new single ‘Kiss You’ which is only been released officially today, drops 3 places to number 26. But it’s not all bad for the boys as ‘Little Things’ is still in the top 20 at 17 and ‘Live While We’re Young’ rests for another week on 39. It therefore joins Adele’s Skyfall, the Lumineers Ho Hey and Labrinth & Emeli Sande as non-movers in this weeks chart.

There’s better news for Dj Fresh, who’s collaboration with Miss Dynamite steps up a huge 10 places finishing in 22nd place this week. 2012 favourites Carley Rae Jepsen and Calvin Haris ft Florence Welch are lucky ones too, seeing their hits ‘Call Me Maybe’ and ‘Sweet Nothing’ go up again and reach a respectable 25th and 18th place this week. Same can be said for P!nk who’s receiving lots of love going up 8 places to number 14.

There’s also a few entries re-appearing this week, biggest being the latest single for Tinie Tempah and Calvin Harris. ‘Drinking From the Bottle’ at 15. Harris is in fact, alongside One Direction the only artist to have three singles in this week’s chart.

Also good news for Swedish House Mafia, who’s last track ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ enters the top ten again at 9. Their track is the 13th highest selling single of 2012. Even better news for Rihanna, who has two singles in the top 10; Diamonds at 8 and ‘Stay’ ft Mikky Ekko enters the top ten at number 7. Olly Murs just misses out on the top 5, while Taylor Swift enjoys her new found pop status at 5 with ‘I knew You Were Trouble’. Bruno Mars continues to do well as well and goes to number 4 this week. South Korean rapper Psy remains at 3 which leaves the battle right between Will.I.AM and James Arthur…. so what’s the verdict? James Arthur remains on top for another week, leaving Will.I.AM and Britney Spears at number 2. Congratulations to X Factor winner James Arthur.

Rizzle Kicks release brand new video for ‘Dreamers’ watch it here

The Brighton duo Rizzle Kicks have just released the brand new video for their latest single effort ‘Dreamers’. The track, which has the recognizable laid back Kicks-beat and slick on topic rhymes,  is the fifth single taken from their platinum selling album ‘Stereo Typical’ and a much better single choice then ‘Travellers chant’, as it continues to establish the dynamic duo as a witty, refreshing urban act.

Featuring  a few ‘Alice in Wonderland’ elements, the video was filmed at the legendary Pikes in Ibiza, which has served as the location for a huge list of stars partying in its villas.

it’s an incredible witty summer track, which comes at the right time, with this heat wave currently in the UK. Nice one chaps!

‘Dreamers’ can be downloaded on iTunes already.

It’s glittery, Pink and Yellow… what is it? J.Lo’s latest video

Busy with her very first world tour, and only just having released her first compilation album ‘Dance Again… the Hits’ it was unsure whether Jennifer Lopez would in fact release a video for her latest single ‘Goin’ In’.

J.Lo wouldn’t be J.Lo if she grabbed every opportunity to show her fans she’s a profound singer and dancer, so of course a video for the new single had to be expected at some point. The new video in fact is a mixture of vibrant colours; pink, yellow and white being the dominant ones. Furthermore the video seems to look back at some highlights of J.Lo’s career. The white outfits remind e.g. of her ‘Jenny on the Block’ era, and the LED scenes remind of a similar backdrop of ‘On the Floor’ last year mixed with the flashlights of ‘Waiting For Tonight’.

Though ‘Goin In’ hasn’t really set the charts on fire yet, with the new video and hopefully airplay on music channels, a minor hit for J.Lo might still be up for grabs. ‘Goin In’ and ‘Dance Again… the Hits’ are out now. Watch the video below:

Little Mix debut ‘Wings’ Video: watch here

The four lovely girls of Little Mix have unveiled the video for their debut single ‘Wings’. Fans will be pleased to know that the X Factor winners of 2011 have come up with a video that a) suits their Beyonce inspired sublime debut single b) introduces them as four strong minded individuals who have their own unique style and c) show the foursome are ready to bring girl power back to the UK.

Yes, we were a bit skeptical at first with the likes of Stooshe on the horizon, but Little Mix got us pretty damn excited when they premiered their debut at the beginning of this month. Can they take on the UK as the Spice Girls did with ‘Wannabe’? We surely think they can, we even think they can go worldwide.

‘Wings’ the new Little Mix single will be out on August 19.

George Michael’s ‘White Light’ video hits the internet: Watch here

After unveiling his new single ‘White Light’ a fortnight ago, the video for George Michael’s comeback track has now been released. What can you expect of the video? Lots of hints to the medical world, a furry guest appearance of Kate Moss as Lady Fortune and the zebra, half naked men and women and of course George Michael. It’s lush!

The new single, which is a celebration the 30th anniversary of his first single written with Andrew Ridgeley, as Wham!. is out on August 13 and can already be pre-ordered.

Kimbra debuts ‘Two Way Street’ Video watch here.

In the UK we know her for those sweet smooth girly vocals on Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ but across the pond and in home country New Zealand Kimbra is steadily building on becoming a worldwide superstar.

Landing a global record deal, with a big focus on the US market for the first half of the year Kimbra has now set her eyes on the UK market as the  release of her debut album ‘Vows’ on July 23rd approaches rapidly. The 13-track standard edition, succeeds her ‘Settle Down’ EP which was released early May.

In the mean time, Kimbra continues to conquer the world and released a few days ago another sublime track from her album, ‘Two Way Street’ accompanied with its official video.

Demonstrating she’s got whatever it takes to be star quality, it would be a shame to remember Kimbra as a guest vocal of a number one hit. New single ‘Two Way Street’ proves she’s got a heck of a personality that brings a new refreshing kind of pop music to the table. And that in our opinion deserves a big opportunity for world wide success.

‘Two Way Street’ has been released on July 12 and is available through the album ‘Vows’. The UK will be able to get the album and track on July 23. An official release date for the single is yet to be confirmed for the UK.
