One to Watch: Jakwob – Electrify ft Jetta

The popularity of Dubstep in mainstream music has really taken a peak with the rise of acts such as Nero, skrillex and crossover acts such as Labrinth and even Britney Spears in 2011. The music genre continues to climb in 2012 with another great track in its genre by British dubstep and producer Jakwob.

The man’s been active in the industry since 2009 after he got recognition for the bootleg he produced of  Ellie Goulding’s ”Starry Eyed”. He received his first radioplay later that year in november 2009 with a dubstep remix of again Ellie Goulding’s ”Under the Sheets” by BBC Radio 1 when Zane Lowe declared it as ”Hottest record in the world”. Ever since the man’s been remixes for M.I.A., Katie Mellua, Little Boots, Empire of The Sun, FrankMusik, Jessie J and even Lana Del Ray, etc…

Now in 2012 the man is releasing his second single ”Electrify ft Jetta” and wow what a killer tune. We love it. This is such an enjoyable track. Starts off with a nice cute melodic riffle which explodes in the dubstep, and lots of beats. Not to mention the guest vocals of Jetta. The video is overly cool too, our favourite part. Jetta’s dress which has its own life and moves on the beats of the song. BRILLIANT!!

Jakwob’s single ”Electrify ft Jetta” is now out on i-Tunes.

One to Watch: Labrinth – Last time

Timothy McKenzie, better known under his stage name Labrinth, is putting out all the stops to warm us up for his debut album ‘’Electronic Earth’’ which is to be released March 19.

The singer songwriter and record producer has been involved in several projects since 2010. He became known to the public through his collaboration with Tinie Tempah on ‘’Pass Out’’ and since he popped up regularly in the charts, scoring top ten hits. His previous and second attempt ‘Earthquake’, a Dub Step inspired R&B song, saw him reach the number 2 in the charts, and once again team up with guest Tinie Tempah making it one of our 2011 favourites.

And now Mr. Labrinth is back, with ‘Last Time’ which couldn’t be more different from ‘Earthquake’. During a first listen it sounds a lot more poppy than his previous work and reminds us a bit of Skepta’s ‘Hold On’, minus the rapping. It’s very electro-pop, undergoing influences by Taio Cruz, and even Goldfrapp. It’s not as instant as ‘Earthquake’ was but as a warm-up towards an album, which is considered to be one of the best for 2012, we can understand the choice as single.

‘Last Time’ is expected to have its release on 11th March. The album Electronic Earth follows one week later on 19th March. Click here to pre-order now! iTunes – http://bit.ly/yaE0vt
