We’re feeling the love for Aussie band Tame Impala. Check them out here…

tameimplaaWe’ve mentioned it before how we believe 2013 will be an extraordinary year for music. So it seems are wish has been granted because we’ve come across yet an amazing Australian band who’s doing pretty damn well at home soil.

Perth based band Tame Impala, lead by frontman Kevin Parker have been around for a good few years but it’s their latest album ‘Lonerism’ and single ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’ which not only makes them extremely popular but landed them a guest performance on Jools Holland at the end of November.

Described by themselves as as “a steady flowing psychedelic groove rock band that emphasizes dream-like melodies” their latest single has a similar feel to, dare we say it, the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Tough shoes to follow but Tame Impala are without a doubt a breath of fresh air in the current music climate. They’re unique rock sound, which in our opinion sounds a bit dreamy and nostalgic, is bound to get noticed pretty soon all over the world.

After the success of Australia’s Gotye, Tame Impala could be Australia’s next top music export product. Their latest single ‘Feels Like We Only Go backwards’ is out now on Itunes alongside their album ‘Lonerism’. Buy it through our GloPop Music Store. Watch the video for the current single below:

but there’s more… meet Vieem and listen to her track ‘Be It Hated’

VieemNow just before the christmas holidays we were contacted by this very lovely lady, Vieem who we believe is more than worth a listen.

Born as Vanna Mattheus, Vieem grew up in Brooklyn, New York it was quite clear that she had a passion for music. With the help of idols Cyndi Lauper and Belinda Carlisle, Vieem took singing lessons, appeared in talent shows, even went through the girl band phase and grew into the amazing singer she’s showcasing on her latest track ‘Be It Hated’.

‘Be it Hated’ is taken from her debut similar titled album, and is a great pop rock track. Nothing beats a bit of good old pop rock so we’re pretty pleased Vieem is bringing it back with such power and passion. With a track record of such amazing pop tunes it’s only a matter of time for this talented young lady to become massively big!

Three tracks you probably haven’t heard yet but definately have to check out…

Despite leaning towards the end of the year which usually shows a little dip in the music scene we’re already heading into a period with quite a lot of brilliant tracks coming out in the near future. A little overview:

Mike Deliquent Project ft Kcat & Mikil Pane – Mama Said (Out February 3, 2013)

Never underestimate the power of the great Annie Mac. The Mike Delinquent Project was crowned by her as the saviour of UK Garage music and his latest effort shows why he’s received that title. Collaborating with UK ’s next king of hip hop Mikill Pane who worked together with Ed Sheeran and Rizzle Kicks, and joined by the fierce KCAT who’s previously charted in the UKtop20 with ‘My Destiny’ the trio are set to release ‘Mama Said’ in February 2013. What a tune! Can we get to February already please?

Night Engine – Treat Me Like A Baby (Out February 18, 2013)

The lads of Night Engine will be celebrating their one year anniversary in January, yet the amazing journey they had over the past 12 months is incredibly. Since formation, the band released a first single in October called ‘I’ll Make It Worth Your While’ to Soundcloud and later on performing for a sold-out crowd. Now the band are ready to announce their debut single for the New Year. On February 18th Night Engine will release ‘Seventeen’ / ‘Treat Me Like A Baby’. They will also play their fourth London show at the Borderline on Wednesday February 20th. Further UK dates will be confirmed shortly. Those lucky enough to be in the capital on 13th December can catch the last Night Engine show of 2012 at the Barfly. Check out a live performance of ‘Treat Me Like A Baby’ above and get your free copy of the b-side here

Florence + the Machine – Lover To Lover (Out now)

2012 has been an incredible year for Florence Welch. The singer teamed up with Calvin Harris for a brand new remix of her ‘Spectrum’ track and scored a huge hit with it. In return the singer appeared on Harris track ‘Sweet Nothing’ which didn’t do too badly either. Now Florence returns to her Machines with a brand new version of ‘Lover to Lover’. What’s not to like!

2:54 release ‘Sugar’ this coming week; find out more here

Sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow have something pretty special going on. Joined by bassist Joel Porter and drummer Alex Robins they form 2:54. After a pretty busy summer, which saw them touring the UK and playing gigs on Bestival, the alternative band have their alternative rock track ‘Sugar’ appearing as a release this coming week.

Since they released first EP ‘The Scarlet’  last year in November, they’ve gained a massive follow which they spoil with new material every so often. In fact this week, they have released a cover version of Seal’s ‘Killer’ this afternoon, which is yet again a sublime track.

According to our forthcoming releases source ‘Sugar’ is set for release on September 17. The track is already available on their self-titled album ’2:54′.

Listen to Taffy’s new single ‘Flower chain’.

Back in June we announced that Japanese brit pop rockers Taffy had told us they’d be touring the UK later in the year, preceded by their new single ‘Flower Chain’. With the release of that single only two weeks away, their new single, ‘Flower Chain’ is now available to hear below:

As you’ll hear, Flower Chain is  an infectious cocktail of joy, which sees Coxon-esque guitar lines meet sugary female harmonies. It’s got a massive punch, which strongly hints to the Classic Brit pop. You just gotta love it!

‘Fower Chain’ is out on September 3. With its launch date close the band have also unveiled the official video for the track. Check it out below:

Taffy are touring the UK in October and November. For more info, check here.
