Remember T.A.T.U? Julia Volkova, one of its member’s has gone solo. Check out her effort here

Let us take you back 11 years ago, when the world was taken by storm in 2001 by Russian female duo T.A.T.U. Their video for ‘All The Things she said’ caused quite a lot of controversy due to members Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina kissing onscreen. The band went on to become one of the biggest Russian music export products but now after three English studio albums, three Russian albums and four compilation albums, T.A.T.U. is no longer.

But don’t be afraid, one of its members Julia Volkova has since set her eyes on going for a solo career, and by the looks of it in her own country she’s been doing very well. Preceded by a first solo release in 2011, and having appeared at the 2012 selection for Eurovision with former winner Dima Bilan, Volkova is aiming now to equal her T.A.T.U with ‘Didn’t Wanna Do It’.

Teaming up with Saeed Molavi, Nadir Benkahla, Taj Jackson Julia has come up with a witty, and a decent pop song which is quite in contrast with the direction of T.A.T.U. Is it any good? We actually like it a lot. The witty riddle in the chorus does work. The track was released digitally worldwide on August 21 through Gala Records. A full studio album is expected in the near studio.

Funky Pop by Russian girl group Serebro.

How can this not be available in its normal radio edit on the UK charts? We’re talking about the latest single of Russian girl trio Serebro. ‘Mama Lover’ was released during the summer of 2011 making it the most successful single of the band so far in Europe.

It’s dancey, uptempo, funky and has got a disco feel to it. Shame shame shame really. But not all is lost. The single was the lead for their new album ‘Mama Lover’ which is to be released this coming week. Let’s hope there is plenty of similar sounding tracks on the album, and an international release at some point for the band who represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and came third.

For the fans who haven’t got it yet, and would still like it there is the Gary Caos Remix which is available through iTunes UK Store.

Regina Spektor’s video for ‘Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)’ watch here

The Russian born chanteuse Regina Spektor has intrigued us, ever since we came across the anti-folk song ‘Samson’ back in 2007. Quite a remarkable  singer she is considering her family fled the Russian Soviet Union at the age of nine, to build up a life in New York, leaving initially her piano behind.

Talking about that period, recently on the BBC Breakfast show the singer explained how grateful she was to get free piano lessons from a neighbour’s wife to continue with her passion. And are we happy for that too.

Now many years later, Spektor has not only released 1 compilation album, 1 live album, 4 EP’s but six full albums with the latest one ”What We Saw From the Cheap Seats” only released a two weeks ago. So far it seems to be the one with most success, and we are so grateful for that, as the first cut from the album is an absolute gem.

”Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)” is a witty uptempo pop song, which includes some French lyrics and sounds absolutely astonishing. The video works very much in its favour and shows the singer from a very witty side as well. Dancing on large dining tables, showing off a piece of fake grass, breaking the vase with flowers, lovely lovely lovely.

Too Good to miss.

”Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)” is available now via Itunes, alongside the album ”What We Saw From The Cheap Seats”
