Darren Hayes: Stupid Mistake Video

What’s wrong with the English people. Don’t they see they are making a stupid mistake by not supporting the amazing Darren Hayes. Three tracks from his 2011 release ”Secret Codes and Battleships” have failed to chart despite being huge in his native Australia.

Such a shame, however no need to despair as Darren is no quitter and has now revealed the video for his fourth single ‘Stupid Mistake’, which is due for release May 7.

The video which is in black and white for a change, sees Darren transforming himself into a clown getting ready to perform. The video is full of close ups, while Darren is preparing himself or when he’s performing the song. Very impressive and clever video in that sense that it’s very simplistic but very effective as well to get its message across.

” Did I lose my calling?  Did I lose you? Don’t lovers always get what they want?” are some of the questions Hayes is asking himself to then later on in the chorus admit to himself how he’s made a stupid mistake ..”I threw it all away I got lazy, on the wrong side of love  Now I’m searching every face in the crowd for you”.

It’s another brilliant track taken from his album ‘Secret Codes & Battleships’ highlighting what an amazing vocalist mr Hayes is.

Darren is also touring all round the UK with his ‘The Secret’s Out’ tour, where tickets can still be bought for. The singer also mentioned he’s hoping to release a re-issue of his new album later in the year with new songs and live performances.

Enjoy the video!

”Stupid Mistake” – EP is out on May 7 via iTunes. The album ”Secret Codes and Battleships” can now be purchased.

One to Watch: Darren Hayes – Bloodstained Heart

Darren Hayes, yes the man from Savage Garden, is back in the spotlights with his latest single ‘Bloodstained Heart’ from his latest album ‘Secret Codes and Battleships’.

While the man is hugely popular in his native Australia, the two previous cuts from the new album ‘Talk Talk Talk’ and ‘Black Out The Sun’ have been neglected for no reason by the UK radio stations (Shame on you all!!) and have made Hayes, one of the most underrated solo performers of 2011. We really hope this is all changes in 2012 with the release of  new single ‘Bloodstained Heart’.

Returning to his Savage Garden roots, with this heartfelt,  the emotional pop-song tells the story of a friendship, ‘The song means so much to me because I wrote it about a time in my life when someone close to me was going through a horrible time and I wished more than anything that I could step in and take the bullet for them.  We’ve all experienced that helpless feeling of standing by idly while someone you love is suffering – and wished that you could absorb the impact for them.  It’s about those situations in life where, maybe you feel you are losing the battle, but you’ll never lose your dignity’’ Darren explains.  (source: http://www.mix1065.com.au/videos/Darren-Hayes-Meaning-Behind-Bloodstained-Heart)

And it is truly heartfelt as the song is absolutely breathtaking. Darren’s lyrics are so genuine and his voice really underlines the emotions experienced. While the song starts of gently, it slowly builds up towards a big moment where the track gets an anthem twist. It sounds something which Coldplay could have featured on their album and considering their style is considered as current, we really hope that this is finally the moment where we see Darren being reinstated as an inspriring, heart-fealt solo artist globally.

‘Bloodstained Heart’, the single and EP, will be available for download on iTunes on 27 February 2012. The album ‘Secret Codes and Battleship’ is already out and can be purchased.
