Marcus Collins Mercy video

In all fairness when we heard X Factor runner up Marcus Collins, was releasing ‘Seven Nation Army’ as his debut single we quite frankly raised our eyebrows and thought”uh oh”. Gradually we started liking the Cutmore radio edit, which was in our opinion is lot better than the cover cover version of the classic White Stripes track and should have functioned as the official track rather than a remix B-side. The Liverpudian singer did however manage to score his first solo top ten single in the UK.

But we’ve forgiven Marcus, as his new track ”Mercy” is a lot more to our taste and a worthy second attempt to conquer the charts. The track which is also taken from the singer’s debut album, has June 3rd as the official release date and was co-written by the singer.

Sticking to a recognizable Seven Nation Army outfit, which suits him very well ( We don’t know anybody else who can pull off a bow tie, pink trousers and baby blue shoes) the singer is accompanied by a bunch of trumpeters and two vocalists in the video for his new song. Collins never denied to prefer doo wop as his future musical direction, especially during his time on the X Factor, and we’re glad to see he’s gone for that in ‘Mercy’. It’s slick, shows off Marcus’ vocal skills a lot better than ‘Seven Nation Army’ and has a catchy, funky feel to it.

All’s forgiven Marcus!

X Factor Video Wrap Up

It’s raining X Factor news these days with some highly anticipated releases coming up. A quick overview.

Marcus Collins, the runner up from this years contest is currently promoting his first single ”Seven Nation Army”, followed by his first album a good week later. Now when we reviewed the video a few weeks back we said we weren’t sure but thanks to radiostation Gaydar we have discovered the Cutmore Radio Edit of ‘Seven Nation Army’ which has given it much more punch and is right up our street. We hope it’s included on the EP, so we can buy it straight away. So check it out the video for your own verdict!

While Marcus is up for his very first single, the runner up of the X Factor in 2010, the lovely Rebecca Ferguson, released her album ‘Heaven’ back in December and is ready to release the 2nd cut ‘Too Good To Loose’. It’s without a doubt the track which will come closest to her rendition of ‘Sweet Dreams’ on the X Factor. The vocals of Rebecca are simply outstanding, absolutely pure class. Not quite the video expected of the song, but it fits it amazingly. If you haven’t got it on pre-order yet, or bought the album I suggest you do.

And while we’re at it, we also have news of X Factor 2009 runner up, Olly Murs who told us a few weeks ago, he’s releasing ‘Oh My Goodness’ as the 3rd cut from his second album already ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’. Mr Murs,  who lost out on a Brit Award last week for ‘Song of the Year’, has now revealed the video for the jazzy swing-pop song which sees him making the Westfield Shopping Centre unsafe to find a girl he has laid his eyes on. Go Get’er Olly! Great vocals from Olly, and definately one of the highlights chosen for his new single, which will be out April, 1.

Enjoy!

One to Watch: Marcus Collin’s premieres video for debut single

We reported a few weeks back that Marcus Collins, the runner up from last years X Factor, had revealed ‘Seven Nation Army’, originally by the White Stripes, as his debut single.

The Liverpudian star, who’s in fact the very first X Factor act to release his single and album that early after the contest, has now officially aired the video for his remake of the rock classic.  The video sees Marcus being touched by female arms with multicoloured finger nails… Odd!!! We’re still not that convinced by the song choice, and the video doesn’t really contribute much to get rid of the feeling. We prefer Marcus to be the happy chappy bloke rather than coming across as a toughie in this video.

We’re still looking forward to his album though! Enjoy!

”Seven Nation Army” the debut single of Marcus Collins, is out on March 4th. The self-titled debut album ”Marcus Collins” will hit i-Tunes and stores on March 12.

Friday’s Newbie: Marcus Collins debuts ‘Seven Nation Army’

X Factor lovers will be pleased to know that the Liverpudian runner up of last year X Factor edition, Marcus Collins  first track has been played on the radio today.

‘Seven Nation Army’ is the leading track of his debut album and best known as the original by the White Stripes. Marcus promised us the version would sound nothing like the White Stripes version and he’s right. The whole atmosphere of the song is completely different, making it sound almost Carribean.

Marcus’ without a great singer, and we loved his vocal performances during the liveshows but we can’t help but feeling he’s holding back on his version of ‘Seven Nation Army’.

Not a completely bad attempt, but sometimes it’s better to leave classic songs for what they are. Marcus’ ‘Seven Nation Army’ will be officially released March 4th, followed by his first album on 12th March.
