No Doubt’s long awaited comeback: Watch ‘Settle Down’ Here

Eleven years… Eleven long year’s, that’s how long it’s been since the American besties from No Doubt released their last album. Yes there was a ‘best of’ in 2003 with a last single, but best of’s hardly count as albums really. So you can imagine the old school fans of the band, were pretty excited when a few months ago we were officially told La Stefani and the gang had started working on a new album.

To keep us updated on their progress a No Doubt video was posted every so often, but yesterday proved to be super-important because the wraps have come off the official video for new single ‘Settle Down’. And it’s bloody brilliant!!!
It opens with our leading gents driving their respective colour-filled rigs towards what can only be described as a party destination, where la Stefani is showing how to do a Party! The video was directed by friend of the band Sophie Muller, who also worked on ‘Don’t Speak’ and ‘Simple Kind of Life’.

The Diplo-produced track ‘Settle Down’ is in itself sublime as well and blends traditional Latin samba rhythms with the very own No Doubt trademark sound. It’s awesome, it’s hot and above all, it’s nothing like what’s in the charts at the moment. Old school fans of No Doubt will LOVE it, and new followers for the band are guaranteed. A Sure winner!

Settle Down’ is released September 17. Push & Shove , the new album, is released on September 24 in the UK and a day later in the US.

The Bolts announce EP ‘Fall’ + free download

For the indie rock lovers out there, Southern California’s explosive modern rock-pop act, The Bolts, are right up your street and ready to release their EP ‘Fall’ on September 21.

The classic yet contemporary quintet comprised of bassist and vocalist, Addam Farmer; guitarist and vocalist Heath Farmer; keyboardist and vocalist, Austin Farmer; guitarist and vocalist, Ryan Kilpatrick; and drummer Matt Champagne, are influenced by artists like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Queen, The Clash, The Killers, The Strokes, My Chemical Romance and Modest Mouse. The foursome have the unique power to create a solid yet powerful pop rock sound that pulsates with muscular musicianship, brilliant 4-part vocal harmonies, allowing each and every single one of them to be lead vocalists of The Bolts.

The guys started off in 2007 by playing various gigs in their native Orange County and have since building up quite a large fan base, getting them ready to now take on the world. The plan, two EP’s ‘Fall’ and ‘Winter’ with their full debut ‘The Bolts’ following later on. The guys are in an extra generous mood as their very first single ‘Walk Away’ can be downloaded from their sound cloud page below! Hoorah!!

Put it in your diaries… 21st September is the day ‘Fall’ arrives. The track list of ‘Fall’ contains the tracks; ‘Walk Away’, ‘The Truth’, ‘This Can’t Be Real’ & ‘We May Fall’

First Listen: Usher debuts ‘Scream’

We mentioned it last night in our news wrap of the day. Usher has got a new single out which he previewed last night with a 30 sec teaser.

The singer, who’s currently scoring a huge hit with his Diplo produced track ‘Climax’, has now released the full version of ‘Scream’. American fans can download the song right away. The UK and the rest of the world should follow shortly.

The track, which reminds us very much to previous hit ‘Dj Got Us Fallin’ in Love Again’, is the second cut taken from the singers 7th album, which is due for release on June 11, and is called ‘Looking for Myself’.

Enjoy the track!

A Selection of UK releases this week

Carly Rae Jepsen is currently holding on to her UK number 1, fighting off Conor Maynard, but with a load of new tracks being out this week, will the Canadian superstar survive at the top for another week. We compiled a list of five songs which we think have potential to do very well in the coming weeks or months.

Queen B returns with a huge banger from her latest album ’4′. The singer, who yesterday was announced most beautiful woman in the world, returns to the music scene with a massive club tune ”End of Time”. The introduction has a military feel to it with the drums, and is 3 minutes of pure Beyonce entertainment. must-buy!

Little Boots, mainly known for her smash hit ‘New in Town’, is back with a new project ‘Every Day I Say  A Prayer’ hoping to set the charts back on fire. It’s the first of a new album, which hopefully sees the daylight later in the year. Little Boots has gone trance, mixed and mixed it with a poppy chorus. Not a bad attempt, and should gain her respectable airplay on the radio. Whether it will reach the same positions as ‘New in Town’, we’re not fully sure. Perhaps a few listens will convince us.

Next up are Foster The People. The American indie band have enjoyed considerable success since last year and are now releasing the new single  ”Don’t Stop”. As with its predecessors it has the bands sound written all over it, though it isn’t as catchy as ”Call It What You Want”. A few listens is necessary, production wise is sublime. Definately a song you don’t want to miss out on.

Ren Harvieu, was included in Digitalspy’s one to watch chapters early this year, and again we totally get why they included this talented young lady from Broughton, England.  The symphonic harmonies combined with pop elements, see the release of ”Open Up Your Arms”, the debut single of this talented young lady. It’s the lead track for her debut album ”Through The Night” which follows May 7. Breathtaking!

He’s the man of the moment, with new tracks produced for Cheryl, Scissor Sisters, Rihanna but Calvin Harris has found the time to release his latest single, featuring American R&B singer Ne-Yo. ‘Lets Go’ is currently already the midweek number 1 in the UK, and seems to be forming a  real threat to Carly Rae Jepsen’s offering. As for the track it sounds very similar to ‘We Found Love’, which was a huge hit globally. Good on the Harris!

All the tracks are available through iTunes now!

Carrie Underwood’s video for ‘Good Girl’.

Last week we’ve spoke about former Idols winner Carrie Underwood who has released her new single ‘Good Girl’. She now has launched the video for the song as well.

It’s a mix of Carrie close ups in different styles, some as a good girl and some as being naughty. With the new sound which combines the country music with the more pop sound a la Kelly Clarkson, this has to be the big breakthrough globally for five time Grammy winner Underwood. Keeping in mind that Taylor Swift managed to do so, this has to go the same way.

”Good Girl” can be bought now via iTunes. The highly anticipated new album ‘Blown Away’ is scheduled for May 1st.

Usher releases video for ‘Climax’

A few weeks ago, we revealed the new single for Usher, ”Climax” which is being produced by Diplo. It’s a new direction for the R&B singer songwriter who’s been enjoying success recently, due to his collaboration with David Guetta on ‘Without You’.

The R&B singer has now revealed the official video for his single, which is due for release on April 16. The video shows lots of close ups of him, while he’s also following his girlfriend as it turns out she’s cheating on him with some other bloke.

We love the new direction Usher has gone into and can not wait for the release of the single and a new album.

Enjoy the video!
